Product info about Alma 2020
Alma 2020 from Bodega Contador is a red Rioja with a strong sense of place. This is the first vintage of the cuvée from Benjamín Romeo's project in San Vicente de la Sonsierra, in Rioja Alta, made mainly from Tempranillo with a smaller share of Garnacha.The wine draws its character from three parcels around the village, each representing a different part of the landscape. Lower alluvial and gravelly soils near the Ebro are combined with fruit from a stonier middle zone and a higher, clay-limestone area at the foot of the Sierra de Toloño. That combination gives Alma 2020 its depth, freshness and firm Rioja identity.
It matured for 20 months in new French barriques, adding structure along with spicy, toasted and balsamic accents. The 2020 vintage in Rioja is described as warm and humid, with mildew reducing yields, a background that helps explain the wine's concentration.

About BODEGA CONTADOR
Bodega Contador is a winery from the Rioja region in Spain, originating from the personal project of winemaker Benjamín Romeo. After gaining years of experience with other producers, Romeo started his own venture in 1995 by meticulously selecting grapes from small plots and processing them in his own cellar in the village of San Vicente de la Sonsierra. Bodega Contador gained recognition by focusing strongly on quality and limited production, which has resulted in several international awards. The winery mostly works with traditional grape varieties such as Tempranillo, Garnacha, and Graciano, sourced from its own vineyards that are managed with great attention to detail. The wines of Bodega Contador are known for their concentrated flavor, depth, and complexity, thanks in part to careful vinification and aging in oak barrels.
