Le Sec de Rayne Vigneau 2022 presents the dry white side of Château de Rayne Vigneau, a Sauternes estate with a strong Bordeaux identity. Rather than the sweet Sauternes style, this wine is released as a dry Bordeaux white, made from 100% sauvignon blanc grown on vineyard parcels reserved for this cuvée.Its interest lies in the way the wine keeps the energy of sauvignon blanc while gaining extra shape from the cellar work. The grapes come from Garonne gravel soils with sandy and clay subsoils, and the wine is vinified in wooden vats designed to allow bâtonnage on the lees. That gives freshness, but also a rounder and softer texture.
At Drankenshop Broekmans, this is the kind of white Bordeaux we like to introduce when someone wants a dry, lively white with a clear sense of origin. The 2022 vintage was awarded a gold medal at the Concours de Bordeaux / Vins d'Aquitaine 2024 and received 90 points from Wine Enthusiast.
