Château de Rayne Vigneau Grand Vin Blanc Sec 2022 is a dry white Bordeaux with a very particular position within this estate's range. Rayne Vigneau is best known for its Premier Grand Cru Classé Sauternes, yet this is a separate limited cuvée and should not be confused with the regular Le Sec de Rayne Vigneau.
Only 1,927 bottles were produced for the 2022 vintage. The wine comes from plots with blue clay and limestone, and reflects years of work on origin selection, harvest timing, vinification and ageing. Its blend of 60% sauvignon blanc and 40% sémillon is central to the style: sauvignon blanc brings power and structure, while sémillon contributes fruit and aromatic complexity.

Le Sec de Rayne Vigneau 2021 is a dry white Bordeaux from a château better known for Sauternes. Château de Rayne Vigneau is based in Bommes, in the Sauternais, and has a historic classified standing in that region. This wine, however, is made as Bordeaux Blanc Sec: dry, still, white and entirely from Sauvignon Blanc.
The Sauvignon Blanc used for this cuvée comes from vines set aside specifically for this dry white wine. Fermentation takes place in 80-hectolitre wooden vats designed to allow bâtonnage on the lees. That matters in the glass, because the wine is built around freshness while also gaining a softer, more velvety feel.

Le Sec de Rayne Vigneau 2022 presents the dry white side of Château de Rayne Vigneau, a Sauternes estate with a strong Bordeaux identity. Rather than the sweet Sauternes style, this wine is released as a dry Bordeaux white, made from 100% sauvignon blanc grown on vineyard parcels reserved for this cuvée.
Its interest lies in the way the wine keeps the energy of sauvignon blanc while gaining extra shape from the cellar work. The grapes come from Garonne gravel soils with sandy and clay subsoils, and the wine is vinified in wooden vats designed to allow bâtonnage on the lees. That gives freshness, but also a rounder and softer texture.
