Product info about Frank Phelan 2020
Frank Phelan 2020 is the second wine of Ch Phelan Segur in Saint-Estèphe, a red Bordeaux that shows another side of the same estate. It is named after Frank Phelan, son of Bernard Phelan, the founder of the domaine, and has been made alongside the grand vin since 1986.The 2020 vintage is composed of 60% Merlot and 40% Cabernet Sauvignon. The fruit comes from the Ch Phelan Segur terroir, with clay and gravel soils over a limestone subsoil. The second wine is made with the same care as the main wine, while the selection brings out a rounder and more immediately approachable expression of Saint-Estèphe.
The growing season in 2020 was marked by contrast: wet conditions early on, drought in July, refreshing rain in August and then favourable conditions before harvest. The grapes were picked by hand between 16 September and 1 October, followed by 14 months of ageing in oak barrels.

Château Phelan Segur is a winery from the Bordeaux region in France, located in the appellation of Saint-Estèphe, in the north of the Médoc. The estate has a history that dates back to the early 19th century, when it was founded by the Irish wine merchant Bernard O'Phelan. The addition Segur refers to the family that was very influential in the region at that time. Château Phelan Segur is best known for its red wines, which are made from classic Bordeaux grape varieties such as Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, and Petit Verdot.
