Craggy Range Aroha Pinot Noir 2021 is a dry red wine from Martinborough, New Zealand, grown in the Te Muna Road Vineyard. As part of Craggy Range's Prestige Collection, Aroha is built around selected Pinot Noir parcels from the estate, with a clear focus on tannin quality, length and a measured balance between power and refinement.The 2021 vintage gained its concentration from low yields. A cold, wet spring reduced the crop, followed by a warm summer that pushed ripening forward. The fruit was entirely hand-harvested, drawn from carefully chosen Pinot Noir blocks, including sites with a narrow layer of clay over stony soils.
In the winery, the detail continues: 32% whole bunches, indigenous yeasts, fermentation in open stainless steel tanks and French oak cuves, then 12 months in French barriques with 30% new oak. The wine was lightly fined and bottled without filtration. At Drankenshop Broekmans, we see this as a Pinot Noir for those moments when precision matters as much as depth: savoury, poised and shaped by its vineyard rather than by sheer weight.
The 2021 vintage has also been very strongly received, with 95 points from both Wine Advocate and Decanter, and 96 points from Cameron Douglas MS. As these are the last bottles, it is a particularly interesting release for anyone following serious Martinborough Pinot Noir. The producer indicates that it can be enjoyed now or cellared until 2037.

Craggy Range is a family-owned company from New Zealand dedicated to producing premium wines, with a strong focus on quality and expression of the terroir. The winery was founded in 1997 by the Peabody family in collaboration with winemaker Steve Smith, and is especially known for its vineyards in the Hawke's Bay and Martinborough regions. Craggy Range works exclusively with grapes from single vineyards, aiming to convey the unique character of each location in their wines.
