Château La Pointe 2021 is the grand vin of Château La Pointe, from Pomerol on Bordeaux's Right Bank. The estate takes its name from the pointed, almost triangular shape of its vineyard, a 23-hectare domaine within the Pomerol appellation. At Drankenshop Broekmans, this is the kind of Bordeaux we like to present for its sense of place and its measured, precise style.The 2021 blend is 82% Merlot and 18% Cabernet Franc. It was a demanding vintage in Pomerol, shaped by April frost, spring and early summer rain, and significant mildew pressure. Château La Pointe responded with careful vineyard work, strict grape selection and gentle extraction, keeping the tannins fine. The wine was made in a traditional Bordeaux manner, with ageing in French oak barriques where the oak is described as discreet and well integrated.
Rather than power alone, this vintage is about freshness, definition and supple structure. It is a medium-bodied Pomerol with the kind of profile that suits dishes such as veal, beef, lamb, duck, game, pork or roast chicken. For young bottles, the château recommends about an hour in a carafe before serving, allowing the wine to open and the tannins to soften. As these are the last bottles, the 2021 now carries an added sense of limited availability.

About CH LA POINTE
Château La Pointe is a wine estate located in the Bordeaux region of France, more specifically within the renowned appellation of Pomerol. The estate has a long history dating back to the 19th century and is especially known for its red wines, which are made from a blend in which Merlot and Cabernet Franc play a leading role. With a vineyard surface area of over 20 hectares, Château La Pointe is one of the larger producers within the relatively small Pomerol appellation. The vines have, on average, a respectable age and grow on the characteristic gravel and clay soils that are typical for this area of Bordeaux. In the vinification process, much attention is paid to preserving the expression of the terroir, resulting in characterful wines with an elegant style and a good balance between fruit, structure, and refinement. Château La Pointe has had various owners over the years, during which investments in the vineyard and cellar have visibly raised the level of quality. Production is focused almost entirely on red wine, which is common in the Pomerol region.
