Product info about Chateau Pontet Canet 2021
Château Pontet-Canet 2021 is the grand vin of Château Pontet-Canet in Pauillac, a red Bordeaux from France's Left Bank and a Fifth Growth in the 1855 classification. The 2021 blend is led by Cabernet Sauvignon, supported by Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot, with an alcohol level of 13%.The estate describes 2021 as an unusual and demanding year. Early budbreak followed a very mild February, frost pressure arrived at the end of March, June brought more rain, and ripening moved slowly after véraison. Even so, the different grape varieties reached maturity in a notably synchronised way, with the harvest running from 24 September to 12 October.
Pontet-Canet works organically and biodynamically, with both certifications in place since 2010. The cellar approach is also part of the wine's identity: for this vintage, maturation took place in 50% new oak barriques, 35% amphorae or concrete Dolia, and 15% one-wine barrels. It is a way of giving structure without letting new oak dominate the expression.

In its youth, decanting is a sensible choice, especially alongside beef, lamb, game, mushrooms or mature hard cheeses. About CH PONTET CANET
Château Pontet-Canet is one of the renowned wineries from the Bordeaux region in France, located in the Pauillac appellation in the Medoc. The winery has a rich history that dates back to the 18th century, when it was founded by Jean-François de Pontet. Later it came into the hands of the Canet family, which led to the combined name. Since 1975 it has been owned by the Tesseron family, who have since invested heavily in both vineyards and winemaking facilities. The estate covers about 81 hectares, mainly with Cabernet Sauvignon, supplemented by Merlot, Cabernet Franc, and Petit Verdot. Pontet-Canet is classified as a Cinquième Cru according to the famous Bordeaux classification of 1855. In recent decades, the switch to biodynamic viticulture has been characteristic; the estate was one of the first major châteaux in Bordeaux to be fully certified organic and biodynamic. This is reflected in a sustainable approach and a strong focus on the character of the terroir. The wines of Château Pontet-Canet are renowned for their ripe fruit, depth, and harmonious balance, with great aging potential.
