Fugue de Nenin 2021 is the second wine of Château Nenin in Pomerol, presented here in a 3-litre double magnum. That larger format immediately changes the setting: this is the kind of bottle that belongs on a generous table, where the wine becomes part of the occasion rather than just an accompaniment.The name Fugue refers to a musical variation on a main theme, which says a lot about its role beside Château Nenin itself. The 2021 vintage is led by merlot with a smaller share of cabernet franc, drawn from sandy-clay terroirs and younger vines on the Pomerol plateau. The growing season required careful work, yet the estate describes the final phenolic ripening as slow and complete.
Stylistically, it is a dry red Pomerol with freshness, fruit and medium body, made to be more approachable than the grand vin while still having the structure to rest in bottle for several years. About CH NENIN
Château Nenin is a winery from the Pomerol appellation, located on the right bank of Bordeaux in France. The estate belongs to the classic producers of this region, where mainly red wines are made with a dominant share of merlot, supplemented by cabernet franc and sometimes a small amount of cabernet sauvignon. Château Nenin has a history that dates back to the nineteenth century, with a distinctive feature being that it has long been owned by families closely connected to the region. Since 1997, the estate has been owned by the Delon family, who are also known for Château Leoville Las Cases in Saint-Julien. The vineyards of Château Nenin are situated on clay and gravel soils, conditions considered particularly suitable for the typical Pomerol grapes. The winery is known for an elegant style with a refined structure and ageing potential. In addition to the grand vin, this house also produces a second wine under the name Fugue de Nenin. In the international wine world, Château Nenin is regularly appreciated for its consistently high quality, though it does not belong to the most famous names of Pomerol such as Pëtrus or Le Pin. Still, enthusiasts value the wines of Château Nenin for their characteristic balance and reliability.
