Product info about La Mondotte 2021
La Mondotte 2021 is a red Saint-Émilion Grand Cru from France's Bordeaux right bank. For this vintage it is designated 1er Grand Cru Classé B, sourced from a small vineyard near Saint-Émilion on clay-limestone soils, with old vines averaging around 60 years of age.The 2021 vintage shows a more precise and fresh side of La Mondotte rather than a broad, opulent one. The blend is 85% Merlot and 15% Cabernet Franc, fermented in wooden vats for 28 days with pneumatic pigeage, then matured for 16 months on the lees in oak barrels, 50% of them new.
Certified organic under FR-BIO-10, bottled at the château in June 2023 and not fined, this is the kind of Bordeaux that fits naturally into the Drankenshop Broekmans selection for customers looking for refinement, structure and ageing potential rather than sheer weight.

About LA MONDOTTE
La Mondotte is a French winery located in the wine region of Saint-Émilion in Bordeaux. The estate is known as a so-called Grand Cru, a designation that within the Saint-Émilion system indicates a specific quality rank. La Mondotte has a relatively small plot of about 4.5 hectares of vineyards and is therefore a typical garagiste, a term for small-scale, artisanal producers who often combine modern techniques with a strong focus on quality and expression of terroir. The vineyards are planted with merlot and cabernet franc, grape varieties typical for the region that together produce a rich, concentrated wine profile. Since the 1990s, the estate has been managed by Stephan von Neipperg, a well-known name in Bordeaux, who has given the winery an international reputation. La Mondotte produces only a limited number of bottles each year, making the wines highly sought after by connoisseurs and collectors. The wines of La Mondotte are often full-bodied, powerful, and display the characteristic ripe notes of merlot, combined with freshness and complexity typical for Saint-Émilion.
