Flavour notes

The aromatic profile centres on dark fruit: blackcurrant, cassis, blackberry, dark cherry and dark berries. Around that core come floral notes, mint or eucalyptus, clove, liquorice, vanilla, graphite and occasional cedar or pencil-like nuances.

On the palate, Château Brane-Cantenac 2021 is generally described as medium to full in body, with notable concentration for the vintage. Fresh acidity keeps the fruit lifted, while the tannins are fine, silky to powdery in feel. The finish is long, carrying brightness, structure and a sense of precision.

Product info about Chateau Brane Cantenac 2021 Magnum (1,5l)

Château Brane-Cantenac 2021 in magnum is a refined expression of Margaux from one of Bordeaux's 1855 Deuxième Grand Cru Classé estates. The 1.5-litre bottle contains the same grand vin as the standard format, but the magnum presentation gives this vintage an added sense of occasion and patience.

Cabernet Sauvignon leads the blend, supported by Merlot and small proportions of Cabernet Franc, Carménère and Petit Verdot. The fruit came from selected estate parcels, with particular reference to the best parts of the Brane plateau and its clay and gravel soils. The 2021 vintage was marked by contrasts: frost, rain, a muted summer and then a late dry spell. In that context, the wine's appeal lies less in sheer ripeness and more in freshness, aromatic precision and finely shaped tannins.

In the cellar, the approach was measured: wooden vats, gentle extraction and 18 months of ageing in entirely new French oak. The available information also mentions some amphora ageing and around 13% high-quality press wine in the final blend. These details matter because they point to a wine built with care, structure and restraint rather than force.

At Drankenshop Broekmans, this magnum sits comfortably among Bordeaux bottles for drinkers who enjoy the classical side of Margaux and the more precise profile of the 2021 vintage. With only limited bottles remaining, it is the kind of format that suits a thoughtful cellar as well as a table where a magnum can take its time.

About CH BRANE CANTENAC

Ch Brane Cantenac is a well-known wine producer from the Bordeaux region in France, specifically located in the Margaux appellation within the Medoc. The estate carries the full name Chateau Brane-Cantenac and has a long history dating back to the 18th century. In 1855, the chateau was recognized as Deuxième Grand Cru Classé during the famous Bordeaux classification, indicating an established reputation within the region. The current owner is the Lurton family, who have managed the estate since 1925; currently, Henri Lurton is at the helm. The vineyard covers an extensive area, mainly planted with Cabernet Sauvignon as the primary grape, supplemented by Merlot and smaller amounts of Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot, and Carmenère. Brane-Cantenac is known for elegant and refined wines that are typical of Margaux, with an aromatic profile that combines fruit, flowers, and subtle wood tones. In addition to the Grand Vin, the chateau also produces a second wine, Baron de Brane, as part of its range. Innovation and tradition go hand in hand here, with great attention to terroir and respect for classic Bordeaux winegrowing.
