Flavour notes
The aromatic and flavour profile brings together ripe red and dark fruit, with red plum, black plum, black cherry, raspberry and berry fruit. Around that fruit sit cacao, dark chocolate, tobacco, graphite, wet stone and chalky mineral notes, with violet, leafy herbs, pepper and a light touch of orange peel. The palate is medium to full in body, yet it feels energetic rather than heavy. Fine to powdery tannins and fresh acidity give the wine shape, while the texture remains supple and layered. Dark chocolate, spice, mineral notes and a gentle herbal edge carry through the finish.

Product info about Clos L'eglise 2021
Clos L'Eglise 2021 is a red Pomerol from Bordeaux with the fresher, more structured stamp of the 2021 vintage. The blend is 80% Merlot and 20% Cabernet Franc, giving the wine a Merlot-led fruit core with Cabernet Franc adding spice, definition and a firmer frame. The fruit comes from around 5.9 hectares of vineyard in Pomerol, planted on clay and gravel soils with iron-rich subsoils mentioned in descriptions of the terroir. The grapes were harvested by hand. For this vintage, picking took place between 27 and 30 September, and the wine reached 13.5% alcohol without chaptalisation.
Fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks, followed by 18 to 24 months in French oak barrels. The oak ageing supports the wine, while the tasting notes focus more on ripe fruit, freshness, fine tannins, spice and mineral detail. At Drankenshop Broekmans, this is the kind of Pomerol we place in front of customers looking for Bordeaux with precision and ageing potential rather than sheer opulence.
Serve it around 16 to 18 °C, preferably with a little air before drinking. It has a natural place alongside red meat, game, pork, meat-based sauces and mature cheeses. Several sources point to a drinking window beginning around 2026, with scope for further development in bottle.
