Les Fiefs de Lagrange 2021 is the second wine of Château Lagrange in Saint-Julien, made within the same estate setting as the grand vin but with a more immediately approachable expression. It comes from the château's younger vines, with an average age of around 30 years, and reflects the stricter selection introduced to refine the quality of Château Lagrange as a whole.The 2021 vintage shows Saint-Julien in a fresher, more classical style. Merlot, cabernet sauvignon and petit verdot come together here with roundness, structure and lift rather than weight. The grapes were hand-harvested and carefully sorted, with parcel-by-parcel vinification in temperature-controlled stainless steel vats. The wine then spent 13 months in barriques, 20% of them new.
In magnum, this red Bordeaux has real table presence. It is well placed alongside grilled beef, lamb, game, duck, pigeon, stews, mushrooms or mature cheeses.
