Product info about Chateau Gruaud Larose 2022
Château Gruaud Larose 2022 is the grand vin of this Saint-Julien estate in the Médoc, a French red Bordeaux with the standing of a Deuxième Grand Cru Classé from the 1855 classification. It is clearly led by cabernet sauvignon, supported by merlot and a small proportion of cabernet franc, giving the wine the firm, structured identity one expects from a serious Saint-Julien.The 2022 vintage was warm and sunny, producing numerous small berries with thick skins, deep colour and significant tannin. At the château, the grapes were hand-harvested, first selected in the vineyard, then sorted by hand and optically on arrival. Vinification was carried out by parcel, grape variety, terroir and vine age in temperature-controlled wooden vats.
Maturation lasted 18 months in fine-grained French oak barriques, 95% of them new for this vintage. That oak presence supports the wine's structure and connects naturally with tasting notes mentioning espresso, dark chocolate, clove, smoke and toasted nuances.
In the Bordeaux selection at Drankenshop Broekmans, this is a bottle with a very clear identity: the grand vin of Gruaud Larose, from a concentrated 2022 vintage, with strong critical recognition from names such as Wine Advocate, Jeb Dunnuck, Jane Anson and Falstaff. With the last bottles now available, it is becoming a scarce presence in our range.

About CH GRUAUD LAROSE
Château Gruaud Larose is a winery from the well-known Bordeaux region in France, located in the Saint-Julien appellation in the Médoc. This château belongs to the so-called Deuxièmes Crus, or the second classified growths according to the famous Bordeaux classification of 1855. Château Gruaud Larose is known for its rich history that dates back to the 18th century. The vineyards cover just over 80 hectares and are mostly planted with classic Bordeaux grape varieties, including Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot, and a small proportion of Malbec. Gruaud Larose wines are often known for their powerful structure, complexity, and aging potential, which is typical for Saint-Julien. Production takes place entirely on the estate itself, from vineyard to bottling, with great attention paid to tradition and craftsmanship. In addition to the grand vin, Gruaud Larose also produces a second wine, Sarget de Gruaud Larose, made from younger vines and lots that do not make it into the main cuvée. The château has been owned by Groupe Taillan since the late 1990s, and is overseen by an experienced team that combines old traditions with modern techniques to ensure consistent quality.
