Chateau Beausejour Duffau-Lagarrosse 2022 Demi is a 37.5 cl half bottle from Saint-Emilion, carrying the stature of a Premier Grand Cru Classé in a more compact format. It comes from a vintage described by the estate as one of extremes, shaped by drought and heat, and it was also the first harvest made entirely under the château's new management after the 2021 change.The 2022 blend is 69% Merlot and 31% Cabernet Franc, with that Cabernet Franc share noted as the highest to date for this wine. The grapes come from the estate's own vineyard on plateau and slope, rooted in clay-limestone soils over limestone. That setting matters here, because the wine is described not only through concentration and ripe fruit, but also through chalky mineral tension.
Winemaking was precise and parcel-focused, using small concrete vats and gentle extraction. The wine then matured for 14 months, with 68% new barriques. The oak influence adds spice, structure and a discreet roasted tone, while the tasting notes keep returning to freshness, limestone expression and aromatic intensity.
