Chateau Beausejour Duffau-Lagarrosse 2020

Chateau Beausejour Duffau-Lagarrosse 2020 is a dry red wine from Saint-Emilion, made as the grand vin of a small estate of around 6.8 hectares on the limestone slopes and plateau of the appellation. The 2020 vintage is listed as Premier Grand Cru Classé B and is composed of 81% merlot and 19% cabernet franc.
Its interest lies in the way the wine ties precision to place. The vineyard is rooted in clay-limestone soils, including astéries limestone on the plateau, and the winemaking takes place in small concrete vats aligned with the parcel structure of the estate. Extraction is described as gentle, with the focus on fruit and terroir expression. Maturation follows in French oak barrels, with 70% new French oak noted for this vintage.

Chateau Beausejour Duffau-Lagarrosse 2020 in magnum is a serious Saint-Emilion from Bordeaux's Right Bank, presented here in the generous 1.5 litre format. For this vintage the wine was designated Premier Grand Cru Classé B within Saint-Emilion Grand Cru, giving the bottle a clear sense of place and standing before it is even opened.
The blend is led by Merlot with Cabernet Franc in support. Its fruit comes from the estate's vineyards on the slopes and limestone plateau of Saint-Emilion, with clay-limestone soils playing an important role in the wine's identity. That background helps explain why the tasting descriptions speak of depth and dark fruit, but also of chalky structure, refined tannins and a long mineral line.

Chateau Beausejour Duffau-Lagarrosse 2021 is a red Bordeaux from Saint-Emilion with more behind it than a vintage date. The 2021 release marks the beginning of a new chapter for the estate, with the Courtin-Clarins family working alongside Joséphine Duffau-Lagarrosse, the ninth generation of the Duffau-Lagarrosse family. That gives the wine a clear sense of place, but also a sense of transition.
The fruit comes from a small estate on the plateau and slope of Saint-Emilion, planted on clay-limestone soils. The blend is 73% merlot and 27% cabernet franc, with the cabernet franc playing an important role in the wine's floral, spicy and fresh side. Ageing for 12 to 14 months, including a proportion of new barriques, adds support without taking the focus away from the (…)Chateau Beausejour Duffau-Lagarrosse 2021 Demi (37,5cl)

Chateau Beausejour Duffau-Lagarrosse 2021 Demi (37,5cl)
In stock
Château Beauséjour Duffau-Lagarrosse 2021 Demi is the estate's grand vin in half-bottle format. At 37.5 cl, it is a thoughtful size for opening a serious Saint-Émilion without committing to a full bottle.
This red Bordeaux comes from Saint-Émilion Grand Cru and belongs to the Premier Grand Cru Classé wines of the appellation. The 2021 vintage also marks an important chapter for the château, as it was the first year of a new phase under the Courtin-Clarins family together with Joséphine Duffau-Lagarrosse, the ninth generation of the Duffau-Lagarrosse family. For Drankenshop Broekmans, that makes this bottle interesting not only for its reputation, but also for the moment in the estate's story that it represents.

Chateau Beausejour Duffau-Lagarrosse 2022 Demi (37,5cl)
In stock
Chateau Beausejour Duffau-Lagarrosse 2022 Demi is a 37.5 cl half bottle from Saint-Emilion, carrying the stature of a Premier Grand Cru Classé in a more compact format. It comes from a vintage described by the estate as one of extremes, shaped by drought and heat, and it was also the first harvest made entirely under the château's new management after the 2021 change.
The 2022 blend is 69% Merlot and 31% Cabernet Franc, with that Cabernet Franc share noted as the highest to date for this wine. The grapes come from the estate's own vineyard on plateau and slope, rooted in clay-limestone soils over limestone. That setting matters here, because the wine is described not only through concentration and ripe fruit, but also through chalky mineral tension.
