Product info about Clos De L'oratoire 2022
Clos de l'Oratoire 2022 is a red Bordeaux from Saint-Émilion, produced by Vignobles Comtes von Neipperg and classified as Grand Cru Classé. Its vineyard lies on the north-eastern slope of Saint-Émilion, covering around 13 hectares, with clay-limestone and molasse de Fronsac on the higher part of the slope and clay-sandy soils lower down.The 2022 vintage is led by merlot, making up 80% of the blend, with 20% cabernet franc. That balance is important to the character of the wine: merlot brings roundness and volume, while cabernet franc adds aromatic detail, structure and length. The vineyard is organically certified, and the grapes were harvested between 13 and 23 September 2022.
Fermentation took place in wooden vats over 27 days, with extraction by pneumatic pigeage. The wine then spent 15 months on fine lees in oak barrels, 30% of them new, and in vats. It was bottled at the château in May 2024 without fining. For Drankenshop Broekmans, this is the kind of Saint-Émilion that shows how ripe fruit, freshness and structure can sit together in a serious 2022 Bordeaux.
The vintage has drawn strong critical attention, including 95 points from Antonio Galloni and 95-96 points in primeur from James Suckling.
