Pagodes de Cos 2022 is a dry red Bordeaux from Saint-Estèphe, produced by Château Cos d'Estournel. It is the estate's second red wine, yet the domaine presents it as its own expression of the Cos d'Estournel terroir, coming from parcels specifically assigned to Pagodes de Cos rather than simply from a general secondary selection.The 2022 vintage was shaped by heat, drought and several heatwaves, with harvest starting on 7 September, the earliest at the estate since 1989. Old vines of around 40 years on average, deep roots and clay-influenced soils helped preserve freshness in a demanding year. The blend is almost evenly split between cabernet sauvignon and merlot, with a small share of cabernet franc; the cabernet brings energy, while the merlot contributes concentration.
In half-bottle format, this 37.5 cl release has a very practical charm: serious Saint-Estèphe character in a size that suits a more focused tasting or a smaller table. About CH COS D'ESTOURNEL
Château Cos d'Estournel is a renowned winery from the French Bordeaux region, specifically located in the Saint-Estèphe appellation in the Médoc. The estate was founded in the early 19th century by Louis-Gaspard d'Estournel, who dedicated himself to producing complex and characterful wines exclusively from his own vineyards. Cos d'Estournel is known as a Deuxième Grand Cru Classé since the famous 1855 classification, in which it was counted among the top of the region. The winery covers about 100 hectares and has been expanded and modernized during various periods, but the distinctive Asian-inspired architecture and the impressive gatehouse are still iconic.
