Petit Figeac 2022 Magnum shows the Château-Figeac style from Saint-Émilion in a generous 1.5 litre bottle. It is the estate's second wine, made exclusively from grapes grown at Château-Figeac. Rather than being a separate single-plot wine, it comes from a specific selection made during the blending process alongside the grand vin.The 2022 blend is 58% Merlot, 21% Cabernet Franc and 21% Cabernet Sauvignon, giving this vintage its own shape and a higher proportion of Merlot than the first wine of Château-Figeac. The grapes were harvested by hand between 1 and 26 September in a year marked at the estate by early, sustained heat and drought. Château-Figeac describes careful vineyard work aimed at preserving freshness in both soil and fruit.
Ageing with 30% new oak barriques adds support while keeping the wine close to its intended role: a more approachable introduction to the house style, with finer texture and earlier drinkability than the grand vin.
