Product info about Chateau Petit Village 2022
Château Petit Village 2022 is the grand vin of this Pomerol estate in Bordeaux. The blend for this vintage is led by Merlot, supported by Cabernet Franc and a smaller proportion of Cabernet Sauvignon. It is very much rooted in the language of Pomerol, yet shaped by the particular vineyard and cellar choices of Château Petit Village.The estate's vineyard is especially distinctive: 10.5 hectares in one continuous triangular plot on the Pomerol plateau. Deep gravel and pebble soils with quartz and flint sit above a clay-rich subsoil. In the warm, dry 2022 vintage, that clay base was an important part of the story, helping preserve water reserves during a demanding growing season.
Selection was carried out with real precision, from manual work in the vineyard to several sorting stages before fermentation. The wine was vinified parcel by parcel in temperature-controlled concrete vats, then aged for 18 months in barriques, 45% of them new, with part of the wine also raised in 500-litre casks.
At Drankenshop Broekmans, this is the kind of Pomerol we like to present as a wine for patient drinking rather than quick judgement. The 2022 has received strong critical recognition, and several drinking windows suggest considerable ageing potential.
