Chateau Phelan Segur 2022 Magnum is the Grand Vin of the estate presented in a generous 1.5 litre bottle. It comes from Saint-Estèphe in the Médoc, Bordeaux, and the 2022 vintage gives it a particularly concentrated, structured voice shaped by a hot, dry growing season and low yields.The blend is 56% Merlot, 40% Cabernet Sauvignon, 2% Petit Verdot and 2% Cabernet Franc. That high share of Merlot is one of the notable features of this vintage. Harvest took place from 14 to 26 September, after a year in which small berries and healthy fruit helped define the wine's density.
There is careful selection behind the wine: hand harvesting, small crates, manual and vibrating sorting tables, plus optical sorting. In 2022 the extraction was kept more restrained towards the end of alcoholic fermentation, closer to an infusion approach. The Grand Vin was aged in barrique, with 55% new oak mentioned for this vintage, supporting the dark fruit, cedar and spice notes described in the wine.

Château Phelan Segur is a winery from the Bordeaux region in France, located in the appellation of Saint-Estèphe, in the north of the Médoc. The estate has a history that dates back to the early 19th century, when it was founded by the Irish wine merchant Bernard O'Phelan. The addition Segur refers to the family that was very influential in the region at that time. Château Phelan Segur is best known for its red wines, which are made from classic Bordeaux grape varieties such as Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, and Petit Verdot. The vineyards are close to the Gironde and benefit from the unique terroir and climatic conditions of Saint-Estèphe, which contribute to the character and structure of the wine.
