Altano Douro Rosé 2025 brings out a fresh, bright side of Portugal's Douro Valley. It is made from Symington family vineyards, using regional grape varieties: Tinta Roriz, Touriga Franca, Touriga Nacional and Tinto Cão. The grapes are picked slightly earlier to keep a clear balance between ripe fruit and refreshing acidity.Altitude is part of the story here. Many of the parcels are higher up in the Douro, helping the wine retain its natural lift. That mattered in the 2025 vintage, a year shaped by dry, hot conditions and then a cooler spell towards the end of summer. The yield was limited, but the fruit achieved good concentration while keeping its freshness.
In the cellar, the approach is all about clarity. Gentle pressing, controlled fermentation at around 16 °C and separate vinification of the different grape varieties help preserve a precise rosé style. Ageing on fine lees with regular bâtonnage gives a little extra roundness and texture without taking away from the wine's crisp profile.
