Altano Douro Rosé 2024
Not available for shipping
Altano Douro Rosé 2024 presents the Douro Valley in a fresh, modern rosé style. Made by Symington under the Altano label, it is a pale, fruit-driven Portuguese rosé designed to be enjoyed young, with freshness at the centre of its personality.
Its production is aimed at keeping that bright character intact. The grapes are gently pressed, the varieties are fermented separately, and the final blend is put together to shape the desired colour, aroma and taste. Time in tank on fine lees, with weekly bâtonnage, gives the wine a little extra texture without taking away from its light and refreshing feel.
At Drankenshop Broekmans, we see this as a rosé for warm days and relaxed food moments: an aperitif, but also a good match for (…)Altano Douro Rosé 2025

Altano Douro Rosé 2025

Altano Douro Rosé 2025 brings out a fresh, bright side of Portugal's Douro Valley. It is made from Symington family vineyards, using regional grape varieties: Tinta Roriz, Touriga Franca, Touriga Nacional and Tinto Cão. The grapes are picked slightly earlier to keep a clear balance between ripe fruit and refreshing acidity.
Altitude is part of the story here. Many of the parcels are higher up in the Douro, helping the wine retain its natural lift. That mattered in the 2025 vintage, a year shaped by dry, hot conditions and then a cooler spell towards the end of summer. The yield was limited, but the fruit achieved good concentration while keeping its freshness.
In the cellar, the approach is all about clarity. Gentle pressing, controlled (…)Altano White

Altano White

Altano White brings out the fresh white-wine side of the Douro. This is not white port, but a dry still white wine from Portugal, made by the Symington family. Its grapes come from higher-altitude vineyards, where cooler conditions help preserve aromatic lift and natural freshness.
Malvasia Fina, Viosinho, Moscatel Galego and Arinto shape the blend, giving the wine its bright fruit expression and lively acidity. Four months in stainless steel keep the focus firmly on purity and freshness, without any stated oak influence.
At Drankenshop Broekmans, we see Altano White as a very appealing choice for anyone looking beyond the obvious for a crisp Portuguese white with a clear Douro identity. It works well with grilled fish, seafood, white meat and pasta dishes, (…)Altano White Riserva 2021

Altano White Riserva 2021
Not available for shipping
Altano White Riserva 2021 is a Portuguese white wine that brings freshness and structure together in a very Douro way. Produced by Symington, it comes from high-altitude vineyards in areas such as Provesende and Valença do Douro, around 500 to 600 metres above sea level. That altitude matters here, because it helps preserve the acidity and brightness that shape the wine's character.
The blend is made from Arinto, Viosinho, Rabigato and Códega do Larinho. Much of the wine was barrel-fermented and aged sur lie, using French and Hungarian oak with a small proportion of acacia. Malolactic fermentation was avoided to retain freshness. This gives the wine more texture and mouthfeel than a simple unoaked Douro Branco, while keeping a clear, dry and lively profile.

Altano White Riserva 2022

Altano White Riserva 2022 is a Portuguese white wine from the Douro, made within Symington's Altano range. It has the feel of a white Reserva rather than a simple fresh white: there is brightness, but also structure and a little extra depth. The blend includes Viosinho, Gouveio, Rabigato and Códega do Larinho, placing it firmly in the white Douro style.
Its character comes partly from the way it is made. Fermentation begins in stainless steel and then continues in oak casks, followed by around eight months of maturation on the lees in cask and further bottle ageing before release. That gives the wine a noticeable but restrained oak influence, adding shape without taking away its freshness.
At Drankenshop Broekmans, this is the kind of white wine we (…)Altano White Riserva 2023

Altano White Riserva 2023

Altano White Riserva 2023 presents the Douro from a polished white-wine angle, with more depth than a straightforward fresh white. Symington works here with grapes from high-altitude vineyards, planted between 500 and 600 metres. That cooler setting helps the wine keep its acidity, lift and balance.
Viosinho forms the core of the blend, supported by Códega do Larinho, Arinto, Gouveio and Rabigato. These native white Douro varieties give the wine its aromatic detail, structure and sense of freshness.
The winemaking adds another layer. Part of the wine is fermented in stainless steel, while the rest is fermented and aged for 11 months on the lees in French and Hungarian oak barrels, with a subtle touch of acacia wood. It keeps its freshness, yet gains (…)Bom Malandro Red 2022

Bom Malandro Red 2022

Bom Malandro Red 2022 is a Portuguese red from the Douro by Symington, built around the region's traditional blending grapes: Touriga Franca, Touriga Nacional, Tinta Roriz, Tinta Barroca and Alicante Bouschet. The fruit comes from higher vineyards, around and above 400 metres, a detail that matters here because it helps preserve freshness and fruit in the wine.
The 2022 vintage in the Douro was exceptionally hot and dry. Against that backdrop, this wine is particularly engaging because it still keeps a lively, fruit-driven side. It carries the ripeness of the year, but the freshness prevents it from feeling heavy.
Gentle extraction in stainless steel and maturation partly in used French oak give the wine shape and subtle depth rather than an obvious new-oak (…)Bom Malandro White 2024

Bom Malandro White 2024 is a Portuguese Douro DOC white wine with a fresh, aromatic personality. Its grapes come from high-altitude vineyards above 500 metres in the delimited Douro region, where cooler conditions help preserve natural acidity and aromatic definition.
There is a playful side to the label as well. The wine's mascot, a clever squirrel, refers to nature's mischievous opportunism and the knack of finding the best grapes. That idea suits the wine's style: bright, youthful and fruit-led rather than shaped by oak.
The winemaking is designed to keep that freshness intact. After gentle handling and brief skin contact, the must ferments in stainless steel at controlled temperature. Ageing also takes place in stainless steel with minimal oxygen contact, (…)Casa De Rodas Alvarinho 2023

Casa De Rodas Alvarinho 2023 is a dry white wine from Portugal, rooted in Monção e Melgaço within the Vinho Verde region. It comes from the historic Casa de Rodas estate in Monção, a property linked in the supplied information to a long Alvarinho tradition, including commercial exports in the 1920s with the grape variety already clearly shown on the label.
Made by Mendes & Symington with winemaker Anselmo Mendes, the wine is shaped with a careful, restrained approach. The grapes are hand-harvested during the cooler parts of the day, gently pressed and fermented under controlled temperature. Six months on fine lees add texture and quiet depth, while keeping the wine's fresh, mineral line firmly in place.

Chryseia 2021 is a dry red Douro DOC wine from Portugal, made by Prats & Symington, the partnership between the Symington family of the Douro and Bruno Prats, former owner of Château Cos d'Estournel in Bordeaux. It is worth stressing the style: this is not a fortified Port, but the flagship dry red wine of the project, built around Douro fruit, structure and finesse.
The 2021 vintage is a blend of 67% Touriga Nacional and 33% Touriga Franca, with fruit from Quinta de Roriz, Quinta da Perdiz and Quinta da Vila Velha in the Cima Corgo. After several warmer, drier years, 2021 was relatively cool for the Douro, with slower ripening and cool nights during harvest. That context helps explain the freshness, colour and poised structure described for this vintage.

Prats & Symington Chryseia 2023 is a dry red Douro DOC wine from Portugal and the flagship wine of the partnership between the Symington family of the Douro and the Prats family of Bordeaux. It is built from a strict selection of grapes from Quinta de Roriz and Quinta da Perdiz, with additional parcels from Quinta da Vila Velha.
The 2023 vintage had an especially favourable rhythm. Winter rain restored water reserves after the severe drought of 2022, while the growing season allowed gradual ripening and strong phenolic development. That background helps explain the style of the wine: Douro depth, but with freshness, definition and controlled power.
The blend is 72% Touriga Nacional and 28% Touriga Franca. Maturation took place over 15 months in 400-litre (…)P+s Prats & Symington Quinta De Roriz Prazo De Roriz 2022

Prazo de Roriz 2022 is a red Douro wine shaped by the partnership between Prats and Symington. It carries the identity of Quinta de Roriz, yet it is made in a style that can be enjoyed relatively young, with structure and freshness kept in careful balance.
The wine is produced from fruit grown at Quinta de Roriz and Quinta da Perdiz, using classic Douro varieties such as Touriga Nacional, Touriga Franca, Tinta Roriz and Tinta Barroca, alongside mixed old-vine plantings. The grapes are hand harvested and carefully selected before fermentation in stainless steel, with gentle extraction to keep the wine focused and approachable.

Pequeno Dilema 2023 is a Portuguese white wine from Symington, made in the Douro. Its character is closely tied to two high-altitude family vineyards in the Cima Corgo: Tapadinha, above the Rio Torto valley, and Chões, in the Rio Pinhão valley. In the warm Douro setting, that altitude is an important part of the wine's freshness and measured ripeness.
The 2023 blend brings together Arinto, Viosinho, Códega do Larinho, Rabigato and a small proportion of Alvarinho. Fermentation begins in tank and continues in a combination of new and used barrels, followed by ten months on the lees in 500-litre French and Hungarian oak. The result is a white wine with more than simple freshness: there is structure, texture and a gentle sense of oak integration.

The 2023 blend is led by Touriga Nacional and Touriga Franca, supported by Tinta Roriz, Tinta Barroca and other varieties. The grapes are carefully sorted and gently handled, with maceration aimed at a wine that can be enjoyed relatively young while still having the structure for further bottle development. Quinta Da Fonte Alicante Bouchet 2018 is a Portuguese red wine with a very focused idea behind it: one grape variety, one separately selected lot and a limited bottling of around 6,000 bottles. At Quinta da Fonte Souto, the Symington Family Estates property in Portalegre, this kind of varietal release is only made when a particular lot stands out clearly in a given vintage.
The grapes come from three older vineyards, all over 25 years old, planted at just above 500 metres at the foot of the Serra de São Mamede. That setting is central to the wine's identity. The altitude helps preserve freshness and balance, while the older, low-yielding vines bring structure and concentration. Quinta Da Fonte Souto Florão Red 2022 is a Portuguese red wine from Symington, grown at Quinta da Fonte Souto in Portalegre, Alto Alentejo. The estate sits on the slopes of the Serra de São Mamede at around 500 metres altitude, where the climate is cooler and more humid than on the warmer Alentejo plain.
Florão Red is intended as the younger-drinking, more approachable red in the Fonte Souto range. The 2022 growing season brought low rainfall and several heatwaves, yet cooler September conditions helped the grapes retain aromatic expression. In the glass, the wine remains dry, fruit-driven and supple, with freshness playing an important role.

That altitude and the cooler, more humid microclimate help explain the wine's emphasis on freshness, aromatic clarity and structure.
The estate is owned by Symington Family Estates and is their first property outside the Douro. Fonte Souto is set among vineyards, woodland and chestnut trees, with schist and granite soils forming part of the character of the quinta. That setting matters: the wine has the ripeness and structure of Syrah, but also lively acidity and a more precise aromatic lift.
The estate belongs to the Symington family and is their wine project outside the Douro. This bottling presents Syrah as a single variety within a limited varietal range designed to show the character of the estate's vineyards. That detail says a lot: this is a wine rooted in a specific estate and landscape rather than a broad regional style.
The 2019 blend is built from Syrah and Alicante Bouschet, selected from estate parcels on schist and granite soils in the Serra de São Mamede Natural Park. Quinta Do Ataide 2018 is a red Douro DOC wine from Portugal, made by Symington from organically grown grapes at Quinta do Ataide in the Vilariça Valley, in the Douro Superior. It is an unfortified red wine, led by Touriga Nacional with Touriga Franca and Alicante Bouschet completing the blend.
The setting matters here. The Vilariça Valley is different from the steeply terraced image often associated with the Douro: its landscape is gentler, more rolling to flatter, with schist soils that include loam and some clay. In the warm, dry conditions of the Douro Superior, that ability to retain moisture gives useful background to the wine's concentration and to the freshness noted in the 2018 vintage.
The winemaking is handled with care, from hand (…)
