Product info about Zeni Amarone Valpolicella Barrique 2019
Zeni Amarone Valpolicella Barrique 2019 is a dry red Amarone della Valpolicella DOCG from the Valpolicella Classica area, the hills north of Verona. Made from Corvina, Corvinone and Rondinella, it is very much in the fuller Amarone tradition: concentrated, structured and generous, with 16% alcohol giving the wine its unmistakable weight.The style is shaped long before the wine reaches barrel. The best bunches are hand-selected and dried for around four months in small crates, concentrating sugars, extract, aromas and glycerine. After fermentation on the skins and an extended maceration, the wine matures in French oak barriques, adding a clear layer of vanilla, cocoa and spice to the richness of the fruit.
At Drankenshop Broekmans, we see this as the kind of Italian red that belongs at the table with deeper, savoury dishes rather than as a casual glass. Zeni suggests red meat, braised dishes, game and aged or fermented cheeses. The producer also recommends opening the bottle at least half an hour before serving and pouring it at 17 to 19 °C.
The 2019 vintage has received notable recognition, including a gold medal at IWSC 2026 and Tre Bicchieri from Gambero Rosso 2025, fitting acknowledgements for an Amarone built around concentration, warmth and structure.
