Rumpublic Origins Spain & Venezuela (Rum Public)

In stock

Rumpublic Origins Spain & Venezuela takes its cue from the idea of origin. The name brings Spain and Venezuela into the same conversation, while the absence of an age statement keeps the focus away from years in cask and closer to provenance, style and pot still distillation.

At 41.5% alcohol, it sits just above the more standard strength often seen in rum, giving it a slightly more defined presence on the shelf. At Drankenshop Broekmans, we see this as the kind of rum that invites customers to look at how a bottling is put together rather than judging it by age alone.

For anyone exploring Rumpublic, this release offers a clear concept: two named origins, one bottle, and a production style that forms an important part of its identity.

At Drankenshop Broekmans, we see Lazy Dodo Pineapple & Vanilla as a flavourful choice for customers who enjoy rum with a pronounced fruit signature and a mellow, sweet finish.

Mezan Panama 2006 (Mezan Vintages)

On request only

Mezan Panama 2006 is a molasses-based rum from Panama, distilled in 2006 and released as part of the Mezan Vintages range. The vintage approach gives this bottle a clear point of identity: it is centred on a specific origin and distillation year rather than presented as a broad, anonymous style.

Its multicolumn distillation points to a cleaner, fruit-led expression. Although matured in bourbon cask, the supplied profile does not place wood at the forefront. Instead, the character is shaped mainly by fruit, with lighter accents of spice, sweetness and floral detail.

At Drankenshop Broekmans, this is the kind of rum we would point out to someone interested in Panama through a vintage bottling. At 40% alcohol it stays approachable in strength, while the (…)

Bonpland Sombre

In stock

Bonpland Sombre is a molasses-based rum with a darker presentation and a clearly fruity centre. It does not come across as a heavily oak-led rum; instead, the interest lies in its approachable depth, gentle sweetness and subtle aromatic lift.

The use of both pot still and column distillation gives the rum a useful balance of structure and smoothness. Maturation in bourbon barrel supports the style, while the absence of an age statement keeps the focus on the character of the rum itself rather than on a number on the label.

At Drankenshop Broekmans, this is the kind of rum we place with customers looking for a fruit-forward molasses rum with light spice and an easy, darker-toned profile. With only the last bottles remaining, Bonpland Sombre is not a bottle (…)

The name suggests an easy-going harbour mood, and that relaxed impression fits the way this bottling presents itself: approachable, rounded and not driven by pronounced wood influence.

Its base brings together pot still and column distillation, with bourbon cask maturation forming part of the background. Patridom XO Tawny Port Tube Incl.

In stock

Patridom XO Tawny Port is a Dominican rum with an added layer of maturation. Its foundation is firmly rooted in the Dominican Republic, where locally grown sugar cane is distilled in a multi-stage column and the rum matures fully in the country's tropical climate. For this recent limited edition, an extra period of ageing took place in selected casks in the continental climate of Pakhuis 1423 in Denmark.

That combination gives the rum a clear sense of place while adding a different finishing touch through the Tawny Port influence. The style leans toward fruit rather than oak, with red berries, cherries and dried fruit forming an important part of its identity, supported by gentle sweetness and light spice.

Beenleigh 2015 8y Mag 1,5l (Velier)

Very last one in stock!

Beenleigh 2015 8y Mag 1.5l is an Australian molasses rum with a strong sense of place. It comes from Beenleigh, a distillery founded in 1884 in Queensland, and is made from molasses sourced from Australia's last privately owned mill. That background gives the bottle a story before the glass is even poured.

The rum is distilled using both columns and pot stills, then aged for 8 years in bourbon barrels. At 60% and bottled at cask strength, it keeps a firm, direct character rather than smoothing away its natural intensity. The 1.5 litre magnum format adds to its distinctive presence, especially as these are the last bottles.

At Drankenshop Broekmans, this Velier bottling sits in the selection for drinkers who appreciate rum with origin, power and detail: (…)

Patridom XO Cognac is a Dominican rum built around locally grown sugar cane and given an added layer through a Cognac cask finish. The Patridom range focuses on premium rums from the Dominican Republic, distilled in a multi-column still and matured in the country's tropical climate.

What gives this release its own direction is the second maturation. After its tropical ageing, it spent an additional period in selected casks in the continental climate of warehouse 1423 in Denmark. The result stays soft and gently sweet, but the fruit feels more developed, with light spice and a subtle touch of wood adding depth.

At Drankenshop Broekmans, this Patridom has a natural place among rums for drinkers who enjoy a rounded, fruit-led style with a little extra refinement (…)

Barcelo 11y (Elizabeth Yard With Finishes)

In stock

Barcelo 11y is a Dominican rum with a distinctly small-batch feel. Elizabeth Yard bottled it after 11 years of maturation at 51.15%, keeping it at cask strength rather than softening it down to a more standard drinking strength.

Its appeal lies in the fact that it comes from a single Bourbon Barrel, with only 92 bottles drawn from that cask. That gives this release a very specific identity: less a broad house expression, more a close look at one individual barrel. At Drankenshop Broekmans, we value these kinds of bottlings because they show a more focused side of rum, shaped by one cask and one moment in maturation.

Traditionally column distilled, the rum leans most clearly toward fruit, supported by gentle wood, spice and sweetness. The 11 years of age, the (…)

Malecon 8y Gran Reserva

| 1 review
In stock

Malecon 8y Gran Reserva is a Cuban molasses-based rum, aged for eight years and bottled at 40%. The Gran Reserva name points to a matured style, but the available profile suggests a rum where oak remains a supporting element rather than the main focus.

Its multicolumn distillation and bourbon cask maturation give it a composed, polished framework. The fruit side is the clearest part of the profile, while wood, spice, sweetness and a light floral touch sit more quietly around it.

At Drankenshop Broekmans, we would place this Malecon among the rums for customers looking for a well-aged Cuban style with a fruit-led character and measured cask influence. It is not a rum built on excess, but on a clean and approachable sense of balance.

Its small outturn is one of the most important parts of the story. Only 295 bottles were released, and with the last bottles now indicated, this Dictador has a distinctly limited place within the selection at Drankenshop Broekmans. It is the kind of rum where the vintage, the age and the number of bottles all matter.

Matured in American Oak and bottled at 44%, it carries a serious profile without needing exaggeration. The available flavour profile points towards a clearly fruity and sweet style, making this an interesting bottle for anyone looking for an aged (…)

Belroy's Rum is a Jamaican molasses rum shaped by origin, distillation and cask influence rather than by an age statement. It brings together pot still and column distillation, giving the rum a layered yet straightforward foundation.

Maturation in bourbon barrel adds a gentle touch of wood, while the fruit-driven side remains the clearest part of its profile. Emb Blend 14y Continental is a Jamaican rum from Velier, bottled as Velier and Scheer. Made from molasses and distilled in a pot still, it spent 14 years in a bourbon cask. Taken together, those details point to a rum with substance: mature, firm in style and shaped by a combination of distillate character and cask ageing.

It is bottled at cask strength, with an alcohol level of 64.8%. That strength gives the rum a serious presence and makes it a bottle to approach with time and attention. At Drankenshop Broekmans, Velier releases such as this are valued for the way they show rum in a more direct, less softened form.

The Continental reference in the name gives this edition its own place within the bottling. With 14 years of age, bourbon cask maturation and (…)
