A1710 La Perle Rare Bleue

On request only

A1710 La Perle Rare Bleue is a Martinique rum built around a very specific expression of sugar cane. It is certified organic, parcel-based and made from a single cane variety: B69-566, known as Canne Bleue. That gives the bottle a clear focus, with the cane itself at the centre of the story.

The sugar cane is grown on A1710's plot at Habitation du Simon. Rather than leaning on wood influence, this cuvée is about the character of one variety from one place. At Drankenshop Broekmans, that makes it a particularly interesting bottle to introduce when someone wants to explore rum through its raw material and origin.

Distilled in a pot still and bottled at 52.9%, La Perle Rare Bleue has enough strength to carry its floral, fruity and spicy sides with (…)

Clairin Casimir 2021

Clairin Casimir 2021 is a Haitian sugar cane juice rum from Barradÿres, released under the Velier name. Its identity is rooted in small-scale craft: Faubert Casimir grows white and red Hawaii cane on 50 hectares, continuing the legacy of his father Duncan.

The interest here lies in the way the fully ripe cane is handled. It is combined with fermenting pure cane sugar, while lemongrass leaves, cinnamon and sometimes ginger are added during distillation to deepen the aromatic character. Rather than showing a wood-led style, this clairin speaks through flowers, spice and fruit, with a light vegetal edge that keeps it close to the cane.

What makes it particularly distinctive is its maturation in stainless steel vats and amphorae. Rather than leaning on wood influence, it keeps the focus on cane, fruit and a clearly present spiced dimension. At Drankenshop Broekmans, this is the kind of bottle we would point out to someone interested in rum that steps away from the usual path.
