Akkeshi Ritto Peated
On request only
Akkeshi Ritto Peated is a Japanese single malt with peat placed clearly at the centre of its identity. There is no age statement here, so the focus shifts to style, strength and cask influence rather than years in wood.
The use of Mizunara oak gives this peated whisky an additional point of interest. Its profile shows peat as the main feature, supported by lighter impressions of wood, spice, fruit and saltiness. That makes it more than a straightforward smoky whisky; the peat is framed by other elements rather than standing alone.
At 55% alcohol, Ritto Peated has a firm presence. At Drankenshop Broekmans, we see this as a bottle for drinkers who want to explore Japanese single malt from a more powerful, smoky angle. With the last bottles now indicated, it is (…)Laphroaig Cairdeas 15y

Laphroaig Cairdeas 15y is a 15-year-old Islay single malt with peat placed firmly at the heart of its character. The bourbon barrel maturation adds a gentle wood influence, supporting the whisky rather than softening away its island identity.
At Drankenshop Broekmans, we see this as a Laphroaig for drinkers who appreciate a clearly peated style with a little more age behind it. Alongside the smoke-driven profile, the whisky carries lighter impressions of spice, fruit and saltiness, giving it more than just peat to speak about.
With only the last bottles remaining, this Cairdeas release is worth considering while it is still on the shelf. Additional information about the brand can be found at https://www.laphroaig.com/

Port Charlotte Single Cask 01

Port Charlotte Single Cask 01 is an Islay single malt built around a very focused idea: one individual cask, presented at cask strength. At 55.2% alcohol, it keeps the whisky close to the strength and personality of that particular maturation.
Distilled in 2012 and aged for 9 years, it offers a defined snapshot of Port Charlotte rather than a broader multi-cask composition. That single cask identity is the central point here: a specific whisky from a specific moment.
At Drankenshop Broekmans, we would place this with drinkers looking for a clearly peated Islay malt, but not one-dimensional peat alone. The profile also carries lighter notes of wood, spice, fruit and salinity, giving the whisky structure around its pronounced peated core.

Bowmore 1997 25y If (Alistair Walker - Infrequent Flyers)
On request only
This Bowmore 1997 from Alistair Walker's Infrequent Flyers range is a release with a very clear sense of place and selection. Distilled in 1997 and bottled in 2022, it spent 25 years maturing before receiving a Pedro Ximenez finish, adding a richer dimension to Bowmore's Islay malt character.
Alistair Walker created Infrequent Flyers after two decades in the whisky world, becoming an independent bottler in 2018. His philosophy is deliberately straightforward: select excellent casks, often from distilleries or parcels that are seen less frequently. This Bowmore follows that idea closely. It is a single cask release, bottled at cask strength, with only 299 bottles produced. At Drankenshop Broekmans, bottlings like this stand out because they show one particular cask rather (…)Highland 2000 22y (Campbeltown Whisky Company - Watt Whisky) Incl. Box

Highland 2000 22y (Campbeltown Whisky Company - Watt Whisky) Incl. Box

Highland 2000 22y keeps its exact distillery name undisclosed, which gives the bottle a certain quiet intrigue. What we do know is precise enough to make it interesting: a Highland single malt distilled in 2000, matured for 22 years and bottled by Watt Whisky, the Campbeltown Whisky Company label.
Rather than being part of a large blended batch, this comes from one sherry hogshead and was bottled at cask strength, at 54%. That makes it a snapshot of one individual cask rather than a polished house style. Only 294 bottles were filled, and with the last bottles now in view, it is the kind of small-release whisky that naturally catches our attention at Drankenshop Broekmans.
Its profile places peat clearly in the foreground, with lighter touches of wood, spice, (…)Big Peat 27y Black Edition (Douglas Laing)

Big Peat 27y Black Edition (Douglas Laing)
Only 2 left in stock!
Big Peat 27y Black Edition is an Islay blended malt from Douglas Laing with a distinctly mature side. Distilled in 1992 and aged for 27 years in oak cask, it keeps the peated identity suggested by the Big Peat name, while allowing lighter notes of wood, spice, fruit and saltiness to sit around that smoky core.
At Drankenshop Broekmans, this is the kind of bottle we would introduce to someone looking for an older Islay whisky with substance and maturity, rather than peat alone. The 48.3% strength gives it enough presence to carry its maritime, smoky profile without turning the description into simple intensity.
With the last bottles now remaining, the Black Edition has an added sense of scarcity. Its appeal lies in the combination of age, Islay origin and the (…)Elements Of Islay Cask Edition + Flask

Elements Of Islay Cask Edition + Flask

Elements of Islay Cask Edition + Flask brings together several sides of Islay in one blended malt. The idea behind Cask Edit is exactly that: a carefully composed selection of refill, bourbon and sherry casks rather than a whisky built around one single cask style.
The blend combines rich, smoky single malt from Islay's south coast with a fresher, fruitier northern style. Peat is clearly part of the identity, but it does not stand alone. There is room for fruit, gentle spice and a subtle salty edge, with the 46% strength giving the whisky enough presence while keeping it easy to pour and enjoy.
At Drankenshop Broekmans, we see this as a smart introduction to a more composed side of Islay: expressive, recognisably smoky, yet not limited to smoke alone. The (…)John Crabbie Peated Incl. Box

John Crabbie Peated Incl. Box

John Crabbie Peated is a Scottish peated single malt where the smoke is clear, but carefully kept in check. Produced according to the traditional Scottish method, it pays tribute to Edinburgh's maritime heritage, a fitting background for a whisky with an authentic peat character and a subtle salty edge.
Slow distillation and maturation in carefully selected oak casks give it a rounded, approachable style. The peat is present enough to define the whisky, yet it does not cover the softer malt-driven side. At Drankenshop Broekmans, we see this as a good introduction to Scottish peated single malt for drinkers who want real smoke without an overpowering profile.
John Crabbie's heritage dates back to 1801, and this Peated release reflects that in a (…)Connemara Tube Incl.

Connemara is an Irish single malt with a very distinctive position. Launched in 1995 and coming from the Cooley distillery, it is described in the supplied information as the first peated Irish whiskey. That immediately sets it apart from the more familiar idea many drinkers have of Irish whiskey.
The defining point here is the malt: 75% of it is peated. Tasted blind, Connemara is said to resemble a Scotch single malt more than a typical Irish style, thanks to its fuller and more distinctive aromas. It remains an Irish whiskey, but one with a smoky direction, a golden colour and maturation in oak casks.
At Drankenshop Broekmans, we see Connemara as an interesting bridge between Irish single malt and peated whisky styles. It brings together malt, gentle wood, (…)Laphroaig 25y The Bessie Williamson Story

Laphroaig 25y The Bessie Williamson Story is an Islay single malt with maturity at the centre of its identity. Distilled in 1994 and aged for 25 years, it is presented with American Oak as the stated cask type. Rather than a standard everyday release, this sits in a more mature and considered part of the Laphroaig world.
The name The Bessie Williamson Story gives the bottle a narrative quality beyond its age statement. Based on the available information, it stands out as a collector's item with a strong sense of place: Scottish single malt, Islay origin, Laphroaig peat influence and long maturation. At 43% alcohol, the presentation remains composed rather than forceful.

Lagavulin 12y Special Release 2024 shows the powerful, phenolic side that defines this Islay single malt, yet this edition also brings out a softer, sweeter and spicier dimension. The peat remains a central part of the whisky, but it is not the only point of interest here; there is a gentler layer underneath the strength.
Released as part of the Diageo Special Releases 2024, this 12-year-old Lagavulin is bottled at cask strength, at 57.4% ABV. That gives it a direct, full-powered presence and keeps the whisky close to its natural intensity, a fitting approach for a release built around Islay smoke and character.

Port Charlotte PMC 01:2013 is very much an Islay single malt with peat at the heart of its identity. Distilled in 2013, matured for 9 years and bottled at cask strength at 54.5%, it keeps a firm, direct style rather than softening its natural power.
The Wine Finish adds another layer to the Port Charlotte profile. The whisky is not built on peat alone: lighter fruit, spice, salt and wood notes sit around the smoky core and give the bottling more shape. It is a strong expression, but the supporting flavours help frame that strength rather than simply amplify it.
At Drankenshop Broekmans, we see this Port Charlotte as a fitting choice for drinkers who enjoy Islay whisky with clear peat presence, natural strength and the added dimension of a wine-finished cask (…)Ledaig 2005 17y (The Single Malts Of Scotland)

Ledaig 2005 17y (The Single Malts Of Scotland)

Ledaig 2005 17y is a Scottish single malt from Mull with a very focused identity: distilled on 3 February 2005 and bottled on 7 April 2022 from a single bourbon barrel. After 17 years of maturation, that cask produced just 253 bottles, making this a small-scale release rather than a widely available expression.
At Drankenshop Broekmans, this bottling stands out for the way several elements come together naturally: single cask origin, cask strength at 54.2%, and a limited outturn. The bourbon barrel influence is indicated as relatively light, so the whisky's profile is not built around heavy wood. Peat is the clearest feature, supported by more restrained notes of fruit, spice, salt and oak.

Elements of Islay Peat is built around the ingredient most closely associated with Islay in this release: peat. Rather than presenting the voice of one single distillery, it brings together carefully selected casks from a handful of distilleries on the island, shaping them into a modern Islay blended malt with a clear smoky identity.
At 45%, this expression sits in the permanent Peat core range, alongside the Full Proof version. It carries no age statement, so the focus is on cask selection and blending rather than age alone. Oak cask maturation supports the whisky without taking attention away from the peated island style.

The Cask Edition idea is built around a considered edit of refill, bourbon and sherry casks. Bottled at 46%, it keeps enough presence to feel distinctly Islay while remaining approachable and easy to enjoy.
At Drankenshop Broekmans, we see this as a useful bottle for anyone exploring peat beyond a single distillery style. It is made for sipping, but the producer also invites experimentation in cocktails.

That cask detail gives this release its own angle: the whisky remains firmly rooted in Islay peat, while the finishing cask adds an extra layer of interest.
At 47.8% ABV, it has enough strength to carry its smoky side with confidence. The flavour profile points to peat as the main feature, supported by lighter notes of wood, spice, fruit and salinity, so the whisky is not defined by smoke alone.

Flavours Smoky 11y is a Scottish single malt from The Whisky Agency's Flavours series, built around a clearly smoky personality. The name is quite direct: this is a whisky where peat smoke takes the lead, while lighter touches of fruit, spice, wood and salinity remain in the background.

Big Peat 33y is an Islay blended malt from Douglas Laing, bottled under the Big Peat name. The age statement is the first thing that sets the tone: 33 years gives this whisky a mature place in the range, while its Islay origin keeps peat firmly at the centre of the conversation.
Distilled in 1985, it was finished in sherry casks, adding an extra layer to a profile built around peat smoke with lighter touches of fruit, spice, wood and coastal salinity.
