Château Gruaud Larose 2019 Demi is the first wine of Château Gruaud Larose from Saint-Julien-Beychevelle in the Médoc. The word demi refers to the 37.5 cl half-bottle format, not to a separate cuvée. Inside the bottle is the estate's dry red Bordeaux from AOC Saint-Julien, from a château classified as Deuxième Grand Cru Classé in 1855.The 2019 vintage is firmly led by Cabernet Sauvignon, making up 72% of the blend, alongside 25% Merlot and 3% Cabernet Franc. The fruit comes from the château's 82-hectare estate, with Garonne gravel soils and the nearby Gironde shaping the conditions of the growing season. A wet spring was followed by dry summer spells, heatwaves and storms, with rain before harvest helping the Cabernet grapes complete their ripening.
The winemaking reflects a careful, estate-led approach: hand harvesting, vineyard selection, double sorting on arrival and parcel-by-parcel vinification. Fermentation took place in temperature-controlled wooden and concrete vats, followed by 18 to 24 months in fine-grained French oak barrels, 80% of them new. The result is a Saint-Julien built around structure, dark fruit and classic Bordeaux depth.

About CH GRUAUD LAROSE
Château Gruaud Larose is a winery from the well-known Bordeaux region in France, located in the Saint-Julien appellation in the Médoc. This château belongs to the so-called Deuxièmes Crus, or the second classified growths according to the famous Bordeaux classification of 1855. Château Gruaud Larose is known for its rich history that dates back to the 18th century. The vineyards cover just over 80 hectares and are mostly planted with classic Bordeaux grape varieties, including Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot, and a small proportion of Malbec. Gruaud Larose wines are often known for their powerful structure, complexity, and aging potential, which is typical for Saint-Julien. Production takes place entirely on the estate itself, from vineyard to bottling, with great attention paid to tradition and craftsmanship. In addition to the grand vin, Gruaud Larose also produces a second wine, Sarget de Gruaud Larose, made from younger vines and lots that do not make it into the main cuvée. The château has been owned by Groupe Taillan since the late 1990s, and is overseen by an experienced team that combines old traditions with modern techniques to ensure consistent quality.
