Château Marsau 2018 is a dry red Bordeaux from Côtes de Francs, made entirely from Merlot. The estate of Anne-Laurence and Mathieu Chadronnier sits on a clay-rich plateau east of Saint-Émilion, and that clay origin is central to the identity of the wine.The 2018 vintage was a demanding one at Marsau. Storms, wind and serious mildew pressure led to very low yields, with production reduced to only a small part of a normal crop. That gives this vintage a particular sense of concentration and scarcity. Fermentation was carried out with indigenous yeasts, and 2018 was also the first year in which Château Marsau began its conversion to organic farming.
At Drankenshop Broekmans, this bottle stands out as a right-bank Merlot with a clear sense of place: clay soils, low yields, careful vinification and limited remaining availability. The vintage also received strong recognition from several respected wine critics, while retaining the quiet, terroir-led personality of the estate.

Château Marsau is a wine estate from France, located in the Bordeaux region, specifically in the northern part of the Côtes de Francs, which has been officially known as Francs Côtes de Bordeaux since 2016. The estate focuses primarily on red wines made from Merlot, the grape that is characteristic for many Bordeaux wines from this area. The vineyard of Château Marsau covers about 12 hectares and is managed with attention to the terroir, with soils that mainly consist of clay, which contributes to the characteristic style of the wines: smooth, full of fruit and generally relatively accessible in their youth. Originally taken over by the Chanfreau family in the 1990s and now under the leadership of Eacute;tienne Mouty, the wines of Château Marsau have developed in recent decades into representative examples of their appellation.
