Product info about La Mondotte 2015
La Mondotte 2015 is a red Saint-Émilion Grand Cru from a very small and clearly defined vineyard. It belongs to Vignobles Comtes von Neipperg and, for this vintage, La Mondotte was designated Premier Grand Cru Classé B within the Saint-Émilion classification.The wine is built around 85% Merlot and 15% Cabernet Franc from 4.5 hectares on the eastern plateau of Saint-Émilion, planted on clay-limestone soils. The producer indicates an average vine age of around 60 years. In 2015 the estate was organically certified, the grapes were harvested by hand, and yields were 34 hl/ha, all pointing to a wine shaped by a small, carefully worked site.
In the cellar, the wine was vinified in wooden vats with extraction by pneumatic pigeage, followed by 33 days of cuvaison. It then matured for 17 months on fine lees in barriques, 80% of them new. The available tasting notes describe the oak influence as clearly present yet integrated, held together by the depth of fruit and the wine's structure.

About LA MONDOTTE
La Mondotte is a French winery located in the wine region of Saint-Émilion in Bordeaux. The estate is known as a so-called Grand Cru, a designation that within the Saint-Émilion system indicates a specific quality rank. La Mondotte has a relatively small plot of about 4.5 hectares of vineyards and is therefore a typical garagiste, a term for small-scale, artisanal producers who often combine modern techniques with a strong focus on quality and expression of terroir. The vineyards are planted with merlot and cabernet franc, grape varieties typical for the region that together produce a rich, concentrated wine profile. Since the 1990s, the estate has been managed by Stephan von Neipperg, a well-known name in Bordeaux, who has given the winery an international reputation. La Mondotte produces only a limited number of bottles each year, making the wines highly sought after by connoisseurs and collectors.
