Flavour notes

In the glass, Inglenook Blancaneaux 2020 shows a bright golden colour. The aroma brings Meyer lemon curd, honeysuckle and white peach, followed by citrus, pear and floral detail. Tasting notes also point to white grapefruit peel, lime blossom, melon, lychee and a sea-salt accent.

On the palate it is creamy and concentrated, yet held together by lively tension. Citrus and white stone fruit are joined by mineral undertones, while the finish moves toward chamomile and juicy Anjou pear. There is body and layered fruit, but the fresh line keeps the wine focused.

Product info about Inglenook Blancaneaux 2020

Inglenook Blancaneaux 2020 is a still white wine from Rutherford in Napa Valley, made in a white Rhône-inspired style. The blend brings together estate-grown Viognier, Marsanne and Roussanne from the Apple and Saddle vineyards. At Drankenshop Broekmans, we see this as a bottle with a very clear identity: Californian in origin, but built around Rhône varieties and a carefully composed estate blend.

Blancaneaux has been produced since 1999 as the white counterpart to Rubicon, Inglenook's leading red wine. For the 2020 vintage, the blend is 36% Viognier, 33% Marsanne and 31% Roussanne. Inglenook describes Marsanne and Roussanne as bringing body and minerality, while Viognier supports the aromatic side with tropical fruit. The vineyard blocks receive morning sun and then benefit from the cooling afternoon shade of Mount St. John.

The wine spent eight months on its lees, with maturation divided between stainless steel and French oak. That combination helps explain why Blancaneaux is described with both concentration and tension: it is not just aromatic, but also textured and shaped. With only the last bottles of this vintage remaining, it is especially relevant for anyone looking to experience Inglenook Blancaneaux specifically from 2020.

Inglenook itself is one of Rutherford's historic estates, founded in 1879 by Gustave Niebaum and now managed by the Coppola family. The estate states that its vineyards have been certified organic for more than 25 years.

About INGLENOOK

Inglenook is a wine brand with a long history in the Napa Valley, California, United States. The origin of the estate dates back to 1879, when the Finnish captain Gustave Niebaum founded the property with the goal of producing high-quality wine following the European example. The vineyards of Inglenook are located in Rutherford, a region known for its characterful cabernet sauvignon wines and favorable climate for viticulture. Over the decades, Inglenook had various owners and periods of production, but the estate remained an established name within the American wine world. From the 1980s onward, it came under the care of film director Francis Ford Coppola, who made significant investments in both the vineyards and the historic winery to restore Inglenook's former reputation. Nowadays, Inglenook primarily produces premium red wines, with emphasis on cabernet sauvignon, merlot, and other Bordeaux variëtals. The brand emphasizes terroir and traditional winemaking techniques, with respect for the history and characteristics of the area. In this way, Inglenook plays a recognizable role within the wine tradition of Napa Valley and is appreciated by enthusiasts who want to experience American wine culture.
