Pagodes de Cos 2020 is the second wine of Château Cos d'Estournel in Saint-Estèphe, Médoc. It is not presented simply as a secondary selection: the wine comes from a separate, clearly defined terroir within the estate, with vines averaging around 40 years of age. That gives Pagodes de Cos its own identity alongside the château's grand vin.The 2020 blend is led by cabernet sauvignon, supported by merlot and smaller proportions of cabernet franc and petit verdot. In the gravity-fed cellar of Cos d'Estournel, Pagodes de Cos is made with an emphasis on fruit expression and supple tannins. For this vintage, ageing included 30% new barriques and a shorter élevage than the grand vin.
The growing season was an early one. Winter rain replenished the soils, flowering took place in good conditions, summer was cool and dry, and September brought warmth. The red grapes were harvested from 10 September, before the rain returned, with the vintage information pointing to concentration, tension and preserved freshness.

For young vintages such as 2020, the château recommends decanting for at least one hour and serving at 15 to 16 °C. Red meat and game are natural partners.

Château Cos d'Estournel is a renowned winery from the French Bordeaux region, specifically located in the Saint-Estèphe appellation in the Médoc. The estate was founded in the early 19th century by Louis-Gaspard d'Estournel, who dedicated himself to producing complex and characterful wines exclusively from his own vineyards. Cos d'Estournel is known as a Deuxième Grand Cru Classé since the famous 1855 classification, in which it was counted among the top of the region. The winery covers about 100 hectares and has been expanded and modernized during various periods, but the distinctive Asian-inspired architecture and the impressive gatehouse are still iconic.
