La Mondotte 2021 Demi is the 37.5 cl half-bottle format of La Mondotte's 2021 Saint-Emilion. The word Demi does not indicate a separate cuvée; it is the same wine in a smaller bottle, well suited to a more focused occasion or a table where a full bottle is simply too much.The wine comes from AOC Saint-Emilion Grand Cru and from a Premier Grand Cru Classé estate of Vignobles Comtes von Neipperg. Its identity is closely tied to a small vineyard of around 4.5 hectares on the clay-limestone plateau east of Saint-Emilion. The vines are around 60 years old on average, and the vineyard is organically certified. For 2021, the blend is 85% Merlot and 15% Cabernet Franc.
After vinification in wooden vats, the wine spent 16 months on the lees in oak barrels, half of them new. Even so, the available tasting notes place the emphasis less on oak and more on freshness, floral detail, dark and red fruit, spice and a chalky mineral line. Compared with richer vintages, 2021 is described as more precise, compact and fresh.

La Mondotte is a French winery located in the wine region of Saint-Émilion in Bordeaux. The estate is known as a so-called Grand Cru, a designation that within the Saint-Émilion system indicates a specific quality rank. La Mondotte has a relatively small plot of about 4.5 hectares of vineyards and is therefore a typical garagiste, a term for small-scale, artisanal producers who often combine modern techniques with a strong focus on quality and expression of terroir. The vineyards are planted with merlot and cabernet franc, grape varieties typical for the region that together produce a rich, concentrated wine profile.
