Château Beauregard 2021 is a red Pomerol from Bordeaux, offered here in a 37.5 cl half bottle. It is a thoughtful format for opening the estate's grand vin when a full bottle is more than you need, while still keeping the character of a serious Pomerol on the table.The wine comes from Château Beauregard, on the south-eastern edge of the Pomerol plateau. For the 2021 vintage, the blend is 70% merlot and 30% cabernet franc, grown on clay and gravel soils. The wine is certified organic under EU standards, and the harvest was carried out by hand, parcel by parcel.
The 2021 season was one for precision rather than excess. A mild, very wet winter, frost in early April and a cool summer were followed by a more favourable September. The estate describes freshness, complexity and elegance as key features of the vintage. Separate parcel vinification, a gravity-fed cellar and 18 months of ageing, partly in new French oak barriques and with a small selection in terracotta jars, all point to a carefully handled wine.
