Château Branaire-Ducru 2021 shows Saint-Julien in a classical, finely drawn style. This is the grand vin of Château Branaire-Ducru, a Quatrième Grand Cru Classé from the 1855 Médoc classification, grown on gravelly alluvial soils in the southern part of the appellation.The 2021 vintage has a cooler, more Atlantic feel than the warmer years that came before it. A slow ripening season helped preserve acidity, giving the wine a more precise line rather than a broad, opulent profile. It is a Bordeaux built around freshness, structure and clear fruit definition.
Cabernet Sauvignon leads the blend at 66%, supported by Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot. That explains much of the wine's personality: firm Cabernet-driven shape, fine tannins, floral detail and a measured spicy accent. The grapes are hand-harvested and sorted, then vinified by plot and grape variety, with gravity used to avoid pumping.

Château Branaire-Ducru is a well-known winery from the French Bordeaux region, more specifically from the Saint-Julien appellation in the Médoc. The winery traces its roots back to the 17th century and has been classified as Quatrième Grand Cru Classé since 1855, which places it in the fourth category of classified Bordeaux wines within the famous classification of that year. The vineyards cover about 60 hectares and are situated on well-drained gravel soils, which is favorable for the ripening of the grapes. Château Branaire-Ducru focuses strongly on the grape varieties Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Petit Verdot and Cabernet Franc, typical for the region. The house style is generally characterized by elegant structure, balance, and a refined expression of fruit, without overly heavy extraction. Under the leadership of the Maroteaux family, who have managed the château since the late 1980s, there has been continuous investment in quality and the modernization of techniques, with respect for tradition. In addition to the main wine, the estate also produces a second wine, Duluc de Branaire-Ducru. The name Branaire-Ducru refers to the history of the estate and former owners, which contributes to the rich character of the winery.
