Product info about Chateau De Camensac 2021
Château de Camensac 2021 is the estate's grand vin, not the second wine. The château is based in Saint-Laurent-Médoc, close to the Saint-Julien appellation, and has held Cinquième Grand Cru Classé status since the 1855 classification. It is very much a Haut-Médoc in the classical Bordeaux sense.The 2021 vintage was not an easy one. A mild, wet winter, April frost and humid flowering conditions made careful selection important, and the year proved more favourable to Cabernet Sauvignon than to Merlot. That is reflected in the blend: 66% Cabernet Sauvignon and 34% Merlot. The grapes were selectively hand-harvested, vinified parcel by parcel and matured in French oak barriques for around 17 to 20 months.
The result is a medium-bodied, restrained style of Camensac, shaped more by freshness, fine tannins and a firm line than by generosity. At Drankenshop Broekmans, we see this as a bottle for drinkers who enjoy the more composed side of Bordeaux, and these are the last bottles available.
It is a natural match for dishes with depth and structure, such as entrecôte à la bordelaise, roast duck, rack of lamb, tournedos with morels or mature cheeses. Served around cellar temperature, with some air if opened young, it shows its character best.

About CH DE CAMENSAC
Château de Camensac is a historic winery from the Bordeaux region in France, specifically located in the appellation Haut-Médoc. The castle and vineyards have a long tradition dating back to the 18th century, but the estate gained international fame when it was included in the famous 1855 classification of the Grand Cru Classés, where it received the status of Cinquième Cru (Fifth Group). The vineyards of Château de Camensac cover about 75 hectares, featuring mainly cabernet sauvignon and merlot as grape varieties, and the viticulture takes place on typical gravel soils that are characteristic for the region. The style of the wines is known for their freshness, structure and aging potential, contemporary with a classic Bordeaux signature. Château de Camensac is nowadays managed by the Merlaut family, who work together with a dedicated team of winemakers. Thanks to investments and a focus on quality, both the wines and the wine estate are popular among lovers of classic Bordeaux wines.
