Flavour notes
The aromatic profile centres on dark fruit: cassis, blackcurrant, dark cherry, blackberry and plum, with ripe berry notes adding depth. Around that fruit sit violet, mint, liquorice, tobacco, cedar, graphite, pencil shavings, truffle, earth and mineral tones. On the palate it is described as medium to full-bodied, layered and fleshy, with lively fruit at the core. The tannins are present and structured yet fine rather than hard, while freshness and acidity keep the wine in balance. The finish is long, carrying graphite, cedar, spice and mineral accents.

Product info about Clos Du Marquis 2021 Magnum (1,5l)
Clos du Marquis 2021 in magnum is a Saint-Julien with a clear identity of its own. Although it is linked to Domaines Delon and Château Léoville Las Cases, it should not be seen as a simple second wine. Clos du Marquis comes from its own Saint-Julien terroirs, on a more westerly plateau with fine gravel, sandy clay and gravelly soils. The 2021 growing season asked for real precision in the vineyard, with an early start, a late finish and variable weather along the way. Final ripeness is described as complete and even. Cabernet Sauvignon leads the blend, supported by Merlot and Cabernet Franc, giving the wine its firm, elegant structure while allowing some softer, more lifted elements to come through.
At Drankenshop Broekmans, this is the kind of Bordeaux we like to present to customers who appreciate Saint-Julien for its structure, freshness and ageing potential. The magnum format suits that idea particularly well. If opened young, the wine benefits from air, and it has the build to accompany red meat, grilled dishes, lamb, game or firm cheeses.
Recognised reviews underline the standing of the 2021 vintage for Clos du Marquis, including 95 points from Wine Enthusiast and James Suckling. With the last bottles now available, this magnum has a special appeal for anyone looking for serious red Bordeaux with a defined Saint-Julien signature.
