Château de Carles 2022 is the estate wine of Château de Carles in Fronsac, on Bordeaux's Right Bank. For this vintage it is made from 100% Merlot, and it should be understood as the château's own main cuvée rather than the separate Haut-Carles bottling.Its setting explains much of the wine's personality. The vineyards are planted on clay and clay-limestone soils over molasse du Fronsadais, with Merlot playing the leading role at the estate. Parcels are vinified separately in temperature-controlled stainless steel vats, followed by ageing partly in stainless steel and French oak barrels. The result is a dry red Fronsac with ripe fruit, structure and the measured Bordeaux feel that suits the appellation.
