Le Dragon de Quintus 2022 is the second wine of Château Quintus in Saint-Émilion, offered here in a 37.5 cl half bottle. It comes from the same mosaic of terroirs as the estate's main wine, but is shaped as a more immediately approachable expression of Saint-Émilion Grand Cru.The 2022 vintage at Château Quintus was defined by dry conditions, heat and an unusually early harvest. Picking began on 7 September, the earliest since the château was founded in 2011. The estate describes the grapes as small, concentrated and aromatic, with the clay-limestone soils helping to retain freshness during the warm, dry season. The blend is led by merlot, supported by cabernet franc and malbec, and the ageing included 29.6% new barriques.
The name refers to the bronze dragon that watches over the estate, a symbol of Château Quintus. About CH QUINTUS
Ch Quintus is a winery from France that is part of the renowned Saint-Émilion region in Bordeaux. The winery was added to the portfolio of Domaines Clarence Dillon in 2011, which is also the owner of the prestigious Château Haut-Brion and Château La Mission Haut-Brion. Ch Quintus was created from the merger of two former estates: Château Tertre Daugay and Château L´Arrosée, after which a third vineyard, Château Grand-Pontet, was later added to the estate. This merger resulted in a vineyard of approximately 45 hectares on a selection of limestone plateaus and slopes, typical of Saint-Émilion. The wine production focuses mainly on blends of Merlot and Cabernet Franc, characteristic for the region, with attention to precision and expression of the terroir. Ch Quintus aims to showcase the unique character of each vintage and the special microclimate of their vineyards in their wines. With limited editions and a modern approach, combined with respect for tradition, Ch Quintus offers a contemporary perspective on what the Saint-Émilion terroirs have to offer.
