Château Bellegrave 2022 is a red Pomerol from the Bouldy family, made in the south-western part of the appellation. This is the Château Bellegrave from Pomerol, not the namesake estate in Pauillac, and that distinction matters: the wine comes from an 8.5-hectare vineyard planted on gravel and clay soils.The blend is led by Merlot, with Cabernet Franc adding its share to the structure and aromatic detail. The vines average 40 years of age, and the estate works organically, with Ecocert certification FR-BIO-01. For the 2022 vintage, the grapes were harvested by hand and vinified parcel by parcel, with each lot approached according to soil type, grape variety and vine age.
Its maturation also says a lot about the style. Château Bellegrave 2022 was aged in a mix of new and used barrels, alongside terracotta and sandstone jars. That combination supports the wine's development without turning the oak into the main story.
