Château Cantemerle 2022 is the grand vin of the estate in Macau, in the Haut-Médoc. As a Cinquième Grand Cru Classé from the 1855 classification, it carries a distinctly classical Bordeaux identity, shaped here by a warm, dry 2022 growing season in which careful vineyard work and deep-rooted vines helped bring in healthy fruit.Cabernet Sauvignon leads the blend, supported by Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot. That composition suits the château's gravel and silica-rich soils: Cabernet Sauvignon provides the structure and ageing potential, while the other varieties add fruit, roundness, freshness and spicy detail. The grapes were hand-harvested with selective sorting in the vineyard between 12 and 27 September.
Twelve months in French oak barriques, including a proportion of new oak, give this Cantemerle the shape of a serious Haut-Médoc made to develop further in bottle. About CH CANTEMERLE
Château Cantemerle is a renowned winery from the Bordeaux region in France, located in the appellation of Haut-Médoc. The history of the estate dates back to the 12th century, but the vineyard became especially well-known after it was granted the status of Cinquième Grand Cru Classé during the famous Bordeaux classification of 1855. Château Cantemerle covers more than 90 hectares of vineyards, where mainly cabernet sauvignon and merlot are cultivated, complemented by cabernet franc and petit verdot. The wines are known for their elegant style with a classic Bordeaux appearance: generally fruity, smooth in structure, and with refined tannins. The winery works with great respect for tradition, but combines this approach with modern techniques and strict quality control.
