Horse With No Name takes bourbon whiskey in a direction that immediately catches the attention: a craft bourbon base from Texas, infused with 2% habanero distillate from the Black Forest. The idea is not to make a fiercely hot drink. According to the tasting notes, the habanero adds a floral aromatic layer without sharp heat.
The bourbon itself is built from Texas yellow dent corn, soft red winter wheat and six-row malt, using a yeast strain captured from Texas pecans. Fermentation lasts 3 to 5 days, followed by double distillation in a column still and at least three years of maturation in 200-litre American oak casks with a #3 char.
