Quintessa 2018 is a red estate wine from Rutherford in Napa Valley, California. It is a Bordeaux-oriented blend with Cabernet Sauvignon at its core, supported by Cabernet Franc, Merlot, Carménère and Petit Verdot.
The wine comes entirely from the Quintessa estate in eastern Rutherford, between the Vaca Mountains and the Napa River. Across the property, vineyard blocks differ in soil and microclimate, with volcanic ash, rocky soils, loam and alluvial deposits all playing their part. Each block is harvested and vinified separately before the final blend is composed, giving the wine a layered sense of estate character.

The wine is closely tied to the Quintessa Estate in eastern Rutherford, between the Vaca Mountains and the Napa River. The property brings together hillsides, valleys, different exposures and varied soils, including volcanic ash in the eastern hills and silty loam on the bench. The estate is farmed organically and biodynamically, and the 2019 vintage allowed the individual vineyard blocks to be handled with particular precision.
