Château du Tertre 2020 is the red Grand Vin of the estate, produced in the Margaux appellation of Bordeaux, France. As a 5th Grand Cru Classé from the 1855 classification, it belongs firmly to the classical Bordeaux tradition, yet the 2020 vintage has its own identity. The blend brings together Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot, with the relatively strong presence of Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot forming part of the estate's Grand Vin character.
The vineyard lies in Arsac, within Margaux, on gravel soils with clay and sand. The harvest took place from 14 September to 2 October, followed by manual and optical sorting. The 2022 blend is led by cabernet sauvignon at 65%, supported by 18% petit verdot and 17% merlot. That gives it a clear Left Bank direction, with structure, dark fruit and freshness at the centre. The grapes were harvested by hand between 8 and 27 September, followed by vinification in wooden, concrete and stainless steel vats, with gentle extraction and around twenty days of maceration.
