Carmes de Rieussec 2019 is the second wine of Château Rieussec in Sauternes, Bordeaux. In this 37.5 cl half bottle, it gives a very accessible way to enjoy the sweet white style of the estate without opening a full bottle.
Its background is firmly rooted in Sauternes: gravelly soils, the influence of the Ciron and the development of noble rot all shape the wine. The 2019 blend is led by Sémillon, supported by Sauvignon Blanc and a small proportion of Muscadelle. That combination brings sweetness, aromatic depth and a line of freshness that keeps the wine lively.
The 2019 vintage required careful selection. September rain encouraged botrytis, but the harvest had to be handled strictly to keep only clean, high-quality fruit. The musts fermented in (…)Carmes De Rieussec 2021

Carmes de Rieussec 2021 is the second wine of Château Rieussec, a sweet white Sauternes from Bordeaux. In this 37.5 cl half-bottle, it offers a refined way to enjoy the Rieussec style without opening a full bottle, while still remaining closely tied to the estate's identity under Domaines Barons de Rothschild Lafite.
The 2021 blend is made from 61% sémillon and 39% sauvignon blanc, sourced from Château Rieussec's vineyards on the border of Fargues and Sauternes. This is a place where the influence of the Garonne and Ciron can bring the humidity needed for noble rot, yet the defining impression of this vintage is freshness and precision.
The year itself demanded strict selection. Frost, wet conditions and very low yields meant that the (…)Chateau Rieussec 2019

Château Rieussec 2019 is the Grand Vin of the estate, a sweet white Sauternes from Bordeaux and a Premier Cru Classé in the 1855 classification of Sauternes and Barsac. The property lies between Fargues and Sauternes and has belonged to Domaines Barons de Rothschild Lafite since 1984.
The 2019 vintage was shaped by careful selection. The humidity around the Ciron and Garonne encouraged the development of noble rot, yet the harvest demanded precision in the vineyard. Only well-botrytised grapes were chosen for the Grand Vin. The blend is 89% Sémillon, 9% Sauvignon Blanc and 2% Muscadelle, fermented in new oak barrels and matured for 24 months.
At Drankenshop Broekmans, we see this Rieussec as a Sauternes for those moments when sweetness (…)Chateau Rieussec 2020

Chateau Rieussec 2020 is a sweet white wine from Sauternes, shaped by noble rot and by a vintage that demanded patience. Rieussec is a 1er Grand Cru Classé de Sauternes et Barsac from the 1855 classification and has belonged to Domaines Barons de Rothschild Lafite since 1984. Its vineyards lie in the Sauternes area where the humidity associated with the Ciron and Garonne is important for the development of Botrytis cinerea, the noble rot that gives this style its concentration.
The 2020 growing season was far from straightforward. A warm start, spring rainfall and then a long dry spell meant that finding enough high-quality botrytised grapes took time. The final wine is built mainly around Sémillon from parcels close to the château, supported by (…)Chateau Rieussec 2021

Chateau Rieussec 2021

Château Rieussec 2021 comes from one of Bordeaux's classic sweet wine landscapes: Sauternes. The estate sits on the border of Fargues and Sauternes, where the influence of the Ciron and Garonne helps the development of noble rot. That patient, selective work in the vineyard is central to the style, bringing natural sweetness, concentration and aromatic depth.
The 2021 vintage was anything but straightforward. Frost, rain and unsettled weather kept yields low, before September mist and rain encouraged a gradual spread of botrytis. Harvesting was done by hand in several selective passes, up to four in total. The final blend is 94% Sémillon and 6% Sauvignon blanc, with parcels pressed and vinified separately, followed by around 18 months of ageing in barrel.

R de Rieussec 2022 is the dry white side of Château Rieussec, a Bordeaux Blanc from a property far better known for Sauternes. Since 1984 the estate has belonged to Domaines Barons de Rothschild Lafite, and this cuvée draws part of its identity from vineyards linked to that Sauternes setting, while presenting itself as a dry, still white wine.
The 2022 blend combines sauvignon blanc and sémillon. Sauvignon blanc keeps the wine fresh, citrus-driven and aromatic, while sémillon adds shape, roundness and texture. The cellar work follows the same idea of contrast: part stainless steel for clarity and freshness, part barrel fermentation and ageing on lees with bâtonnage for a broader mouthfeel.
