Valandraud Blanc 2019 is a serious white Bordeaux from a name more often associated with Saint-Émilion reds. This is the white grand wine of Château Valandraud, the estate of the Andraud-Thunevin family, but it sits under the Bordeaux Blanc appellation: dry, still and built around sauvignon gris, sauvignon blanc and sémillon.
For the 2019 vintage, the blend is 50% sauvignon gris, 40% sauvignon blanc and 10% sémillon. The grapes come from clay-limestone parcels near the estate. Valandraud's white vineyard was planted from 2000 onwards, with the first vintage of this cuvée released in 2003, giving the wine a relatively young but clearly defined identity within the wider Valandraud story.
