Product info about Sena 2021
Sena 2021 is a Chilean red wine from the Aconcagua Valley, shaped by a Bordeaux-inspired idea but unmistakably rooted in Chile. Cabernet Sauvignon leads the blend, with Malbec, Carmenere and Petit Verdot adding depth and definition. The Carmenere is especially important here, giving the wine a distinctly Chilean accent within a classic-style red blend.The fruit comes from Sena's own 42-hectare hillside vineyard in Ocoa, around 40 kilometres from the Pacific Ocean. Stony, gravelly soils, biodynamic farming and the cooling influence of the Pacific and the Humboldt Current all help define the wine's character. The 2021 vintage was moderately cool, with slow and even ripening, bringing together structure, freshness and precision.
Maturation lasted 22 months, mainly in French oak and partly in foudres. The oak supports the wine's spicy and cocoa-toned side while leaving room for the fruit and the firm, linear structure described in the tasting notes. The vintage has also received notable critical recognition, including 100 points from James Suckling.
