Epu 2021

Epu 2021 is the second wine of Almaviva, made in Puente Alto in Chile's Maipo Valley. The name Epu means two in the Mapuche language, a clear reference to its position within the estate. For the 2021 vintage, the blend is led by cabernet sauvignon at 80%, supported by 15% carménère and 5% merlot.
Its appeal lies in the close relationship with Almaviva itself. Epu comes from the same vineyard environment, mainly from younger vines, giving it a more approachable expression while keeping the cabernet-driven identity of Puente Alto. Twelve months in French barriques, with only a modest proportion of new oak, help frame the ripe fruit and savoury spice without pushing the wine into a heavier style.
The 2021 growing season brought its own nuance. (…)Montes Muse Cabernet Sauvignon 2020

Montes Muse Cabernet Sauvignon 2020

Montes Muse Cabernet Sauvignon 2020 is a Chilean red wine with a clear focus on Alto Maipo and Cabernet Sauvignon. The grapes come from a vineyard in the foothills of the Andes, on an alluvial terrace along the southern bank of the Maipo River. Cool mornings and nights are an important part of the setting here, helping to frame the ripeness of the fruit, even in a warmer vintage such as 2020.
There is a personal story behind Muse as well. Aurelio Montes created the wine as a return to his roots in Alto Maipo, the place where he built his experience with Cabernet Sauvignon and the potential of quality wine from Chile. The wine is also presented as a tribute to the women in his family who influenced him.
The production details show a careful, selective (…)Montes Muse Cabernet Sauvignon 2021

Montes Muse Cabernet Sauvignon 2021 is a Chilean red wine with a genuinely personal background. Aurelio Montes Sr. introduced this cuvée as a tribute to the women in his family who influenced him. Within the Montes range, Muse belongs to the producer's higher icon-level wines, built around Cabernet Sauvignon with small additions of Petit Verdot and Cabernet Franc for added dimension and length.
The fruit comes from Alto Maipo, at the foot of the Andes, from vineyards around 460 metres above sea level on the southern bank of the Maipo River. The alluvial soils, with stones, clay, silt and sand, are described as low in fertility and well drained. For the 2021 vintage, the available information points to grapes with concentrated colour and aroma. Eighteen months in (…)Rocas De Sena 2020

Rocas De Sena 2020

Rocas de Sena 2020 is the first vintage released of this second wine from Sena in Chile's Aconcagua Valley. It shows the estate from a different angle, with Malbec at the centre of the blend alongside Syrah, Cabernet Sauvignon, Grenache and Petit Verdot. The use of Syrah and Grenache gives it a more Mediterranean accent than the main Sena wine, while still remaining firmly rooted in Aconcagua.
Its name points to the rocky landscape behind the wine. Volcanic stones, well-drained soils and a vineyard site around 40 kilometres from the Pacific Ocean all play a part in its identity. The vineyard is farmed according to biodynamic principles, and the 2020 season was warm and early. That warmth brought ripeness and concentration, while cooler Pacific influences helped retain (…)Rocas De Sena 2021

Rocas De Sena 2021 is a dry red wine from Chile's Aconcagua Valley and the second wine of Sena. It comes from selected parcels of the Sena vineyard, in a setting known for rocky soils and large volcanic stones. That landscape is part of the wine's identity, and it is reflected directly in the name Rocas.
The 2021 blend brings together Malbec, Syrah, Cabernet Sauvignon, Grenache, Petit Verdot and Mourvèdre. Compared with the main Sena wine, Rocas De Sena gives more room to Mediterranean varieties alongside the classic structure of Cabernet and Malbec. It feels like a distinct interpretation of the same vineyard environment rather than a simple second label.
The growing season in 2021 was moderately cool, allowing the grapes to ripen slowly and evenly. (…)Sena 2010

Sena 2010 is a dry red wine from Chile's Aconcagua Valley, sourced from Seña's own hillside vineyard in Ocoa. Its Bordeaux inspiration is clear, yet the presence of Carmenere gives the blend a distinctly Chilean accent alongside Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot.
The vineyard setting is central to the wine's personality. The vines grow on north-east facing slopes at roughly 290 to 500 metres above sea level, around 41 kilometres from the Pacific Ocean. That position brings cooling influence and day-night temperature variation, factors linked to colour intensity, ripeness and the preservation of acidity.
The 2010 vintage was moderately cool and dry, with low yields and healthy fruit. Grapes were picked by hand in the morning, (…)Sena 2019

Sena 2019 is a red wine from Chile's Aconcagua Valley, built with a Bordeaux-inspired idea but shaped by a clearly Chilean identity. Cabernet Sauvignon forms the core of the blend, supported by Malbec, Carmenere and Petit Verdot. The Carmenere matters here: it gives the wine a distinctly Chilean voice rather than making it feel like a straightforward Bordeaux imitation.
The 2019 vintage is also the 25th anniversary release of Sena. The grapes come from vineyards farmed according to biodynamic principles. While Chile as a whole experienced a warm year, the Sena vineyard saw a cooler than average summer, helped by its proximity to the sea and the influence of coastal winds. That slower ripening period helped preserve fruit intensity and freshness while allowing the tannins to (…)Sena 2019 Dubbele Magnum (3l)

Sena 2019 in double magnum is not a separate cuvée, but the same Chilean red wine presented in a striking 3-litre format. That size suits the wine's sense of occasion: 2019 is the 25th vintage of Sena, grown in Ocoa in the Aconcagua Valley, on well-draining stony and gravelly soils of volcanic and colluvial origin, around 40 kilometres from the Pacific Ocean.
The wine takes its inspiration from Bordeaux, yet the identity remains clearly Chilean. Cabernet Sauvignon leads the blend at 60%, supported by Malbec, Carmenere and Petit Verdot. Carmenere is an important part of the Chilean signature here. The vineyard is farmed according to biodynamic principles, and in 2019 the coastal influence was especially important: although Chile experienced a warm year overall, the (…)
