Flavour notes
Château Rouget 2020 centres on dark fruit, with black cherry, cassis, plum and blackberry at the core. Around that fruit come darker and more savoury notes of black olive, sandalwood, sweet spices, tobacco, liquorice, chocolate, espresso, truffle, leather, incense, graphite and floral accents. On the palate it is described as medium to full-bodied, with ripe yet present tannins and fresh acidity. The texture is silky, although the wine can still feel compact and powerful in its youth. The finish is concentrated and spicy, supported by the structure needed for further bottle ageing.

Product info about Chateau Rouget 2020 Magnum (1,5l)
Château Rouget 2020 in magnum is a red Pomerol with a clear Right Bank identity. The blend is 85% Merlot and 15% Cabernet Franc, grown on gravel and clay soils in Bordeaux, France. It brings together the ripeness and concentration associated with Pomerol, while keeping the freshness and tension that Château Rouget highlights for this vintage. The 2020 growing season at Château Rouget began after a wet winter, followed by early budburst and warm conditions in the first half of April. The clay-rich soils, having stored water from winter and spring rain, helped the vines cope with summer heat. Harvest started very early, on 15 September, and was carried out by hand in small crates, parcel by parcel, with careful sorting. In the cellar, part of the wine was vinified using vendanges intégrales and part in wooden vats, followed by maturation with 30% new oak.
For Drankenshop Broekmans, this is the kind of Bordeaux that stands out because it combines pedigree, vintage definition and bottle-ageing potential. Château Rouget is one of the older estates of Pomerol, recorded in documents since around 1700, and the 2020 vintage received strong recognition from several respected wine critics.
The 1.5-litre magnum format gives the bottle a generous table presence and also suits the long drinking horizon mentioned for this wine. With the last bottles now in focus, this is a thoughtful choice for anyone looking for a serious Pomerol with depth, structure and time ahead of it.
