Flavour notes
The aroma shows a merlot-driven Pomerol profile, with dark berries, black cherry, plum and cassis. Floral notes of violet, rose and iris add lift, followed by liquorice, truffle, loamy earth, wet pebble, graphite, tobacco, bay leaf and fine spices. The oak influence is present but integrated, bringing touches of toast, cedar, coffee, cocoa and subtle chocolate. On the palate it is medium-bodied, juicy and precise, with red and black fruit carried by fresh acidity. The tannins are fine and polished, yet still present enough to give shape and structure. The finish brings together fruit, spice, earthy tones and mineral tension, with a length that gives the wine its serious Pomerol identity.

Product info about La Petite Eglise 2021
La Petite Eglise 2021 is the second wine, or parcel selection, of Ch L'Eglise Clinet in Pomerol. It is strongly merlot-led, with a blend of 90% merlot and 10% cabernet franc, drawn from estate parcels and younger merlot vines. Vintage-specific information also mentions 2016 plantings near the church parcel being used in the wine for the first time. The 2021 vintage in Pomerol was cooler and more demanding than the very ripe years that came before it. That gives this wine much of its appeal: it is less massive in style, with the focus falling on freshness, floral detail, fine tannins and a clear core of fruit. Ageing in French oak barrels, with 60% new oak mentioned for this vintage, adds support without pushing the fruit into the background.
At Drankenshop Broekmans, this is the kind of Pomerol we like to present to customers who want a serious view of the estate, but in a form that is more approachable than the grand vin. With only limited bottles remaining, it also has the quiet scarcity one expects from a sought-after wine from a small domaine.
La Petite Eglise 2021 has drawn strong attention from international wine critics, including high scores from several well-known names. More importantly, it captures the tone of the vintage: elegant, precise and lifted, with structure rather than weight at its centre.
