The château is one of the historic names of the appellation, mentioned in archives from 1700, and has been owned by the Labruyère family since 1992. The 2022 vintage is led by Merlot with Cabernet Franc in support, from vineyards on the Pomerol plateau where gravel, clay and iron-rich sandstone help define the wine's origin.For Château Rouget, 2022 was an early and warm vintage, with harvesting starting on 6 September. Low yields and small berries gave concentrated must, while the estate's own approach for the year focused on ripeness, freshness and balance. Grapes were hand-picked in small crates, carefully sorted and vinified parcel by parcel, followed by ageing with a proportion of new barriques.
